road through the downtown district tonight and got to see these lit..and let me tell ya its absolutely terrible....there's so much glare and the road is alot less illuminated than it was with the previous semicutoff cobraheads...i cant say im suprised though.
we already had these acorns on standalone poles, but the change out wiped out just about all the poles with cobraheads so now there's nothing but glare going through downtown lol
the decorative signal poles with the acorns are only installed in downtown...all other new signal poles are non-stylized with normal cobraheads...i would have prefered they did that instead of the acorn treatment...since they were going for ornamental they could have just did teardrops...that would make more sense.
IDA will love the downtown areas of Texas. Here the MH acorns in downtown Providence do nothing but emmit glare like you said. There are quite a few MV acorns left out in Providence though. I've never liked the look of acorn lights anyways.
acorns look ok,though i will point out the acorns in downtown Birmingham,Alabama were nicely executed...looks like any other acorn but they actually had internal shielding that kept light from spilling out the top of the fixture,i was impressed they actually took light control into account instead of just getting it for the look.
