Wow! Incredible find, the BT-25s are hard to find by themselves, but a clear Sylvania one, very nice!

Wow, you don't see lamps like this too often.
Silverliner14B   [Mar 08, 2011 at 01:14 AM]
Come to think of it, I was born in the 70s and while I certainly remember BT25 mercs and HPS lamps from way back even a few cleartops, I don't even recall seeing a single clear 100w mercury BT25 in use!
TiCoune66   [Mar 08, 2011 at 01:19 AM]
Yet the clear mercury lamps of other wattages are way more common, I wonder why!
GullWhiz   [Mar 08, 2011 at 02:25 AM]
I actually won a bunch of clear 100 watt MV BTs but because of the clumsy seller I didn't get any!!! Was gonna give you one Dave! Lucky!

Thanks all for the comments! I have some classic Hi-Output White /W mercury lamps that should be on the doorstep anytime this week. GE, Sylvania, Radiant, and even a Norelco.

MINE?!
Silverliner14B   [Nov 02, 2011 at 02:14 AM]
Update! I am now the owner of not one but two BT-25 clear mercs, it is a Sylvania just like this but is slightly used and it came from a different seller.
joe_347V   [Nov 02, 2011 at 02:15 AM]
Nice! I have a BT 25 Sylvania from the same seller you got your first one from.

Very nice lamp! Very Happy Why did the older mercs have blackened ends when new? Neutral
Silverliner14B   [Nov 24, 2011 at 05:29 PM]
They don't normally have end blackening when new, they should not either. Sometimes there may be a little silverly deposit at the ends.
joe_347V   [Nov 24, 2011 at 05:45 PM]
I've noticed that my older MV lamps have a lot of lines on the arc tube too.
TiCoune66   [Nov 28, 2011 at 10:55 PM]
Wouldn't that silver coating be thermal insulation to keep the electrodes hot enough in lower wattage lamps?
Silverliner14B   [Nov 29, 2011 at 12:53 AM]
Yep the end coating is typical in low wattage MV lamps. Ever notice the Philips 100w mercs have gold paint?
joe_347V   [Nov 29, 2011 at 01:13 AM]
I did, and I thought it was pretty interesting.
