Target Canada Opening Day
Some of the Targets around here have started to open, including one of the stores close to me so I decided to check it out. I got some pics of the outside and of the lighting aisle. Interesting all their GE bulbs use the new package design while most other stores here have the old style GE packages. I also bought a box of 100w bulbs and a 2 pack of 25 watters as I've yet to see the new GE package design here.

Oh and they use 3500K T8s in troffers identical to the two lamps ones in the pic. It's didn't show up on my pics though.

I saw that article too, and one store opened in B-town today. If ya see any L.E.D. daylight dimmable incandescent comparable as 60W bulbs lemmie know! I have retrofitted my room dimmer already!

That's interesting that you got yourself 100 Watts version Cool

The new store has existing stock pulled from the warehouse whereas the older store still have NOS at the shelf. They leave it at the shelves until exhausted for more stock to be replaced. For example, the never popular 15 Watts A15 bulb would sit on the shelves for almost forever whereas the most popular ones such as 100 Watts and 60 Watts are usually flying off from the shelves.

looks almost the same as the usa, right down to the ultrasoft name.

Oh man I almost forgot the first Targets were opening in March 2013! xD It doesn't surprise me that Canadian Targets are virtually identical to the US ones. It's exactly the same thing with Walmart, Home Depot, and probably Lowes too, but there's no Lowes in Québec so I can't tell xD

Target opened it's first three test stores (in Fergus, Guelph, and Milton, ON) here around March 3rd but today the first bunch of stores in the GTA have started to open. I believe the rest of the stores will be opening through the rest of 2013.

Also I heard three Zeller's stores will remain open, one in Toronto, one in Montreal and another in Surrey, BC.

Yeah most US companies have more or less identical stores in Canada. Lowe's does too but I think the US ones have a wider selection.

Regarding the packaging, I don't think the old style ones were old stock as the lamps inside still had 2013 date codes on them so I think GE might have kept the old style packs for the Canadian market.

i personally don't like the new GE packaging. for lamp life they give a year like "Life: 1.5 years based on 3 hour/day operation" or something like that and it really bugs me becuase i don't feel like doing a to of math to figure hout how many hours it lasts to compare it with another brand's lamp. Heh I prefer the older style GE packs too, good thing Canadian packs are still mostly the old style, even on lamps made in 2013.
