I have seen this 15 years ago, it hasn't changed much, was day burning 15 year ago too! Note the ballast in the back on the pole?

Remote ballast a light and it can run 24/7 like this for it's whole life. I guess the rain doesn't crack the glass (hot glass + cold rain = cracking)?

the outer bulb is made of Borosilicate glass....quite abit more resistant to thermal shock than regular glass.

i don't think regular incandescent lamp are...i sprayed some water on a hot one and CRACK. Very Happy

Looks to be 400w size lamp. I wonder what sort of diffuser was on this.

Well the other pics...and the others found on the road (most of them) has the tear drop...however a gumball will fit too!!!

i remember jace here putting a Gumball refractor on a 400 Watt Mercury powrbracket. Smile

Couldn't find that pic but I did find a pic of a NEMA with a Powerbracket refractor, Shocked and here's and picture of an elusive "Powr/Gull" luminaire. Laughing Razz
