Soon to Be Replaced AE 125s
Here's a pair of AE 125s that's scheduled for removal because of road widening. But looking at the poor condition of the old concrete pole it's bound to happen sooner or later. The old pole probably held a pair of B2213s back in the mercury days.

I went by there today. Razz I hope to get a few lights from this job!

I've noticed that some of the truss lights at the nearby interchange got removed, not long now before they're all gone. Sad
gailgrove   [Oct 23, 2011 at 11:59 PM]
I know a few have been taken down, I'm going to phone to contractor soon and see if I can get an update about when most of the lights will be coming down. I also noticed there are a few wallpacks and traffic signals at the temporary yard they have there.
joe_347V   [Oct 24, 2011 at 12:01 AM]
I guess those are from the old Hwy. 10 overpass that was demolished over the summer.
gailgrove   [Oct 24, 2011 at 12:04 AM]
I actually think they demolished that with the wallpacks in place. Rolling Eyes Not that they worked or even had refractors though I seem to recall them having mercury lamps. But they have been replacing all of the wallpacks under all of the underpasses at the interchange.

Shocked Mercury lamps, I thought they were just HPS lumes. Anyways I noticed those new wallpacks you were talking about, they look like weird floodlights right?

Don't really know why the wallpacks needed to be replaced though maybe it's the MTO overdoers at work again. Laughing

They are GEs, I don't know where they went on the GE website but they use to be on it. Confused I think they actually use the same housing as the PF400.
streetlight98   [Oct 24, 2011 at 12:49 AM]
The lamps could have been coated HPS, since those aren't tubular like the clear lamps.
joe_347V   [Oct 26, 2011 at 04:04 AM]
Well I think the lamps have long been crushed now, so we can't tell for sure. Neutral
gailgrove   [Oct 26, 2011 at 11:09 PM]
Yes, very crushed. Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Oct 27, 2011 at 05:10 AM]
Just like how they crushed that NEMA Rolling Eyes , and are these truss lights still connected I don't think I see them on in the vid.
gailgrove   [Oct 27, 2011 at 09:01 PM]
They are still working as far as I know, I didn't see the lights in the video. They also aren't going to be coming down until next spring as far as I know.
joe_347V   [Sep 02, 2012 at 02:51 AM]
Update: these lights and their poles were removed sometime between mid-July and late August. :/

Theres actually a truss light left with a cooper ovx on it! It might be there still. Iv'e never seen OVX's on a MTO highway or on and off ramps. Except for that spot. I think its because of the construction. That used to be a OV-25. I don't like many of the new highmasts though. MTO used to love the mercury B2213's. OVX link --> http://goo.gl/maps/pnEsQ
joe_347V   [Jul 10, 2013 at 05:10 PM]
Interesting, I think it must have been put up by a contractor as MTO dosen't really use small fixtures.

If you like the B2213s check out this site it has tons of pictures showing MTO freeways in the 1970s and 1980s back when the mercs were common.
Hanging Light   [Jul 11, 2013 at 12:39 AM]
Yea I've seen that site before. Thats why I knew that they used them.
joe_347V   [Jul 11, 2013 at 07:28 AM]
Ahh, I guess you saw those pics of clamshells and OV-25 remotes on the QEW in the early 80s then?
Hanging Light   [Jul 11, 2013 at 11:18 AM]
Yeup. The clamshells were replaced right before the Truss lights came in.
joe_347V   [Jul 11, 2013 at 07:56 PM]
Yeah I think it was done in conjunction with a HPS conversion. The clamshells aren't even the original lights on that stretch of the QEW. The original lights were incandescent gumballs on straight arms.
Hanging Light   [Jul 12, 2013 at 12:21 PM]
They were 12' poles right? There are poles from the Clamshell era but the pole was just restored with the same old arm and HPS lights. http://goo.gl/maps/6atCb
