Appleton Baymaster C with a 68W CFL!
This CFL looks pretty good in my highbay! It is my 2nd favourite lamp, the 100W halogen PAR being my #1 favourite.

It looks good, but an HID lamp would be even better. Wink

When it comes to cost effective it really boils down to CFL though. It's better than those boring flat waffle highbays we have now. Sad

I've seen a Canadian Tire (I think the one at Bovaird and McLaughin) with CFLs retrofitted into the original MH highbays.
gailgrove   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:17 AM]
That Canadian Tire also turns off all of their parking lot and wallpacks lights as well as the signs as soon as they close for the night,it always looks strange seeing a store so dark at night even if they are closed. If I where them I might turn off most of the lot lights but I would for sure leave all the building and sign lights on. Rolling Eyes

The one at Hwy. 7 and High Tech in Richmond Hill does that too. Confused I personally would at least leave a couple of lights on like other stores. Rolling Eyes

The highbays in the pool area of the hotel i stayed at in Niagra Falls had CFLs in them. I'm assuming they were origionally MH or MV. They were a cylindrical shape like a soda can.

The Eaton Centre in Toronto has similar looking highbays near the Dundas entrance.

I think those are Holophane lights with an optional round shield that goes around them.
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:28 AM]
It's not a round sheild, it's actually a cast metal housig with the ballast and reflector mounted inside. Very similar to a cobrahead.

Well I'm not sure then. Razz

I've seen ones made by GE that look like the ones i saw in Canada, but the GE ones are smaller. My elementary school had GE ones backstage in the Auditorium. Most were burnt out and I've never seen them used except when i turned them on. As far as i know, they're still there.

Oh the joys of playing with electrical stuff at school. Laughing My current high school has almost all the breaker boxes locked but a few aren't, my middle school had them all unlocked, I played with the gym and stage lights on many occasions, of course when no one was around. Razz

Laughing My drafting teacher used to give me random stuff to wire up and not the low voltage stuff too. Shocked

I used to be first to class just so I could flip on the lights and see that RS startup effect. Laughing
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:42 AM]
I occasionally stopped to say hi to my gym teacher in the morning to see the lights get turned on. Laughing

Hey Joseph how old are you anyways (if you don't want to tell us here you can PM me)? You've never told us,I have a guess but I'm not totally sure. Anyways I've fired up all the lights in my middle school's gym at the same time, 450 or so fluorescent lamps firing up at the same time sure is impressive!

There are 36 lights in my gym. 6 lamps in each one, so that a good amout of lamps. The new fixtures are IS though.

That's around about what I figured. Razz I know you've talked about things you did in high school so I figured you had graduated fairly recently.
joe_347V   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:50 AM]
That or I could have had a good memory. Laughing

Maybe I can predict the future to find out what I'll be doing when i go into high school next year. Razz Laughing
