The ones on the right, they look very Ontario. Razz

The ones on the right with even needing to stop and think. Razz

Fine fine, I'll persuade them to put up concrete poles, MTO truss arms and MV Powerlite B2255s. Happy yet? Laughing

Quite happy Laughing

Or fibreglass poles, sure it's better than LED or induction though - both are!
streetlight98   [Sep 04, 2011 at 02:21 PM]
Ew. i don't like fiberglass either. It really hurts to get fiberglass splinters. Sad I don't think plastic infrastructure should be used outdoors.
gailgrove   [Sep 04, 2011 at 03:58 PM]
Another problem is it can't be recycled, concrete and metal both can be recycled but fibreglass and wood can't, that is another reason I like concrete poles.

I like the ones on the right more than the ones on the left, although I agree about the fiberglass poles. The utility here has some poles exactly like these, but they no longer install new ones. Any knocked down ones gets replaced by a concrete pole.

I've seen fibreglass utilty poles used in my area before, I think I might be some kind of test since all other poles are still wood.
Form109   [Sep 05, 2011 at 09:49 PM]
i prefer the left row.
GullWhiz   [Sep 05, 2011 at 09:52 PM]
Funny thing... My area has been using fiberglass poles since the mid 70s or so! Most of the older fiberglass was only for posttops though. But I noticed the today's ones seems better since the newer ones are really smooth while the old ones had obvious fiber texture.....But I know a lot of fiberglass poles from the 70s still IN USE! Almost ALL the Mcgraw/Cooper Traditionares we have under my current electric company have the fiberglass poles by default...the older ones (from early 70s) are metal though. The wooden poles are actually an option around here today!

The arms up there are aluminum while the poles are fiberglass...

You sure fiberglass can't be recycled? I know fiberglass poles are lighter and easier to install and they don't rust and if you hit it, it won't HURT you because they are too light LOL!

Another thing...we have too much crazy drinking drivers now days, is it worth paying expensive poles when we know they will hit it pretty soon Rolling Eyes

The left row are metal...but some are kinda wearing away, and they are kinda boring...probably more fun in the 70s...but they are starting to look drab...as we all agree...the right row is better! Cool

i prefer aluminimum poles.
joe_347V   [Sep 05, 2011 at 10:38 PM]
My favourites are steel, aluminium and concrete poles.
streetlight98   [Sep 05, 2011 at 10:47 PM]
My favorite pole type is a brushed aluminum finish anchor base aluminum pole holding a truss arm
joe_347V   [Sep 05, 2011 at 11:03 PM]
My favorite truss arm is the 6ft stubby ones that MTO used to use. Razz
