Is it cycling or did it just go completly out? Is your utilty using crap lamps? I think N-G uses either GE or Sylvania lamps. Definetly not altos thoguh. Probably GE lamps.
@ Tony. The A2 and R2 drop lens reflectors do cycle prematurely. But this has to either be an igitor problem or just a cheap lamp. The cut-off M-250R2 and M-250A2 reflectors don't seem to have that problem though.
I have never seen any drop lens R2s cycle early but the only utility in western mass that uses A2's is Holyoke Gas & Electric. I know WMECO uses Sylvania Lamps.
The A2 and R2 use the same reflectors and refractors, so that's not really possible for only the A2s to cycle prematurly. We don't have any new powr/doors here, so only the M-250R2 is installed. I have seen 250w M-250R2s cycle in like a year. And altos are made by Phillps.
well from what Ive seen here, A2's cycle early but I have no way to compare with other utilitys since HG&E is the only utility that uses them. Holyoke must use junk lamps so that why I see early cycling. My company uses R2's and they seem to last but thats because we use Sylvania lamps and they seem to work very well.
Altos aren't that good of lamps. Sylvaina is the best. GE lamps used to be great, but new ones are OK. I don't know what National Grid uses. Maybe GE or Sylvaina.
Probably Altos. The lamps used here aren't bad and i think they're GE or Sylvaina. It depends if Holyoke is using GE Ecolux or standard GE Lucalox lamps
