according to LRLs website these lights are guaranteed to last 20 years maintenece free. Rolling Eyes

That's probably the biggest lie ever! Even one of my linemen friends told me he had to replace a few of the LED sticks from some test LED fixtures...
Antstar85   [Aug 17, 2011 at 09:47 PM]
well we will see how these preform. i'm going to keep a CLOSE eye on them. Wink

Another thing that I don't like about LED or induction is that (on most fixtures) the entire fixture has to be replaced, you can't just screw in a new lamp.
GullWhiz   [Aug 17, 2011 at 09:49 PM]
Actually LEDs can have parts replaced....like the driver can be replaced, the LED strips can replaced....and yes you can replace ballasts on inductions too...
Antstar85   [Aug 17, 2011 at 09:59 PM]
I still don't like them.......LOL!
GullWhiz   [Aug 17, 2011 at 10:05 PM]
That was probably the funniest phrase I have ever heard from ya..so far.... Razz

i'm just waiting to see the 44 watters in service now because the test ones they had up were not very bright, they were dimmer than the 70 watt HPS lights near it.

I don't like LED's for streetlighting and they would never last 20 years.
Antstar85   [Aug 18, 2011 at 08:31 PM]
I'm going to laugh at the city when theres a mass failure rate of these!
mercuryvaporrocks   [Aug 18, 2011 at 08:56 PM]
My former city Pittsburgh wants to replace all 40,000 of their high pressure sodium streetlights with LED's.

I just found out the city of Holyoke is planning a LED swap out, I will be very unhappy if they take the M-400A down in front of my house. Mad
gailgrove   [Aug 19, 2011 at 05:23 PM]
Well if it does come down try to get it! Then put it on your own pole over the road! Laughing
Antstar85   [Aug 19, 2011 at 07:54 PM]
Hopefully I'll be home when they change it out

Luckly for me, none of Rhode Island is going LED and I haven't heard any talk of upgrades. Heck, the towns off the mainland of RI are still incandescent! I actually heard that Rhode Island is going green by setting up wind turbines. Now THAT is a good way to save energy. Banning little light bulbs isn't going to help anyone except the manufacturer of the more "effecient" lamps. Rolling Eyes

Photos of the test lights In Holyoke to come......
joe_347V   [Aug 20, 2011 at 03:19 AM]
The streetlights in my town still haven't been infested with LED yet, the ones I linked to are at least a few miles away from me and is in the next town.

And yeah see if you can save that M-400A, putting it up across from the LED light is a great idea too. Laughing
gailgrove   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:43 AM]
Well if it's an consolation, here is a video of one of these being thrown off a roof!
Shocked Too bad it survives! Surprised
Antstar85   [Sep 19, 2011 at 01:45 AM]
Yeah I've seen that video, I hoped it shattered when it hit the ground.
