They're all 100W and 240V. He happened to have a spare 120V powr/module though so i could use my M-250A. How about a nice high quality 175W yardblaster with deluxe 12" bucket and stylish clear thermal low profile shorting cap- err- photocell?

Same for the Westy Lifeguards, one of (if not THE) longest-lived lighting situation is a 175w Westy Lifeguard running base-up on a CWA ballast, or so I'm told anyway...easily 300 THOUSAND hours! (although dimmed-out by them( That's MUCH longer than ANY LED...
My godparents have an 80s Regent yardlight (one of the ones with the bulb in at an angle) and the lamp is a fully-coated /DX Westy Lifeguard that's still pretty bright as of two years ago...it's hardly ever lit up. Hope I can score the lamp and fixture someday, along with the GE M-400A that was given to them by a neighbor they said has my name on it...

I only have one Westy 175w Lifeguard but it's almost NOS from early '73 so it should last a long time if it goes in service. Most of my lights in use have modern lamps in them though.

Many of my fixtures have old lamps...both my houses have tons of vintage F40s in use!
Yeah that Lifeguard could easily outlive you...how old are you anyway if you don't mind me asking? I'm 15 and have been interested in lights my whole life but when I joined LG and GOL my interest peaked.

@ andy; i think you meant to say reactor/reactance ballast instead of CWA? Since CWA has the cap in series with the lamp it's harder on the lamp.

Yep, CWA ballasts have a higher ballast crest factor than HX and reactor ballasts which means it drives lamps harder. Interestingly enough, I heard lamps last the longest base up in one of those NEMA or yardlight fixtures (well the ones with a real ballast).

I heard CWA somewhere...like in those indoor recessed cans...although I also have heard stories of them lasting for 40 or 50 years in NEMA heads...
I also read somewhere (I think it was Joe Maruth's site?) that 175w seem to last the longest/stay brightest longest, closely followed by 100w but it could also be challenged on a case-by-case basis.
It's common knowledge that 175w Westy Lifeguard and GE Bonusline lamps last decades though.

They actually last fairly long in recessed cans too, I still see pretty bright cleartop /DX lamps from time to time. I've also heard from others on here and LG that the 175 lasts the longest and second is the 100w.

So I guess it's likely true then? Seems I also hear of 400w lamps lasting practically forever as well...

It probably it, not sure about 400w lamps though.

Seems like they're pretty long-lasting though but dim out faster since I hear stories of 400w lamps being removed (still working but dim) after like 40 years of nightly service as well.

I think Dave has a clear 400w Bonusline like mine that was from a Form 400 that still works after decades of use but was dim.
