Some of the poles look like they're concrete poles! Razz
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:19 AM]
The newer one with the 125s does.

Doesn't look that new to me, Razz and I thought the city prefers Al poles in medians instead of concrete.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:23 AM]
How do i know? Razz
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:25 AM]
They do, the concrete poles are older (from the late 90's, early 00's) They replaced some of these on direct burial square steel poles that where either knocked over or unsafely rusted. Then they did a complete replacement of the old shoeboxes and poles except for the concrete poles with the aluminum poles a few years ago.

Hmm I've never seen a direct bury square steel pole before, the ones I know are all base mounted.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:39 AM]
I've never seen any direct bury poles. Razz (exept wood)
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:42 AM]
Oh Really? And Joseph I'm pretty sure they where, they where like this pole, unless the base in buried.

I'm not quite sure that's the exact same type of pole, the one I linked to gets wider just before it goes into the ground, the one you linked to doesn't change. It would surprise me though if they purposely buried the bases for a better appearance.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:53 AM]
Oh yeah. Embarrassed Maybe I should get some rest. Laughing
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:55 AM]
I guess they're not, Razz I haven't seen a square pole like that one before too, and they look a lot rustier than the ones in my area too.
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:58 AM]
Might be a good idea Michael! I will be getting some sleep shortly. I think those are the only two of that style of light left in Brampton (the other one is west of the pole in the link) I can't help but wonder how much longer they have. Sad
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:59 AM]
Yeah looks like they're going to be replaced soon just like the old freeway truss lighting. Sad
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:01 AM]
It almost seem they may of forgotten about them, I would think they'd of been gone long ago if they realized the state they are in. I may complain about them and if they decide to replace them try to get one of the fixtures!
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:03 AM]
It's nice to see older stuff still in use. But like these poles will in a few months or years, I'mm getting some sleep now. Razz Good Nite.
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:04 AM]
I'm betting they'll replace them with a new steel or Al base mount pole, 8' Al tapered e arm and a brand new shiny OVX! Razz
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:07 AM]
Nah, most likely 50 foot direct burial concrete poles since they are at the side of the road, you've got the 8 foot tapered E and "brand new shiny OVX" right though (in wonderful 400 watts). Laughing Rolling Eyes
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:10 AM]
Oh great more 400w OVXs, guaranteed to make lamps cycle in two months on your money back. Rolling Eyes
gailgrove   [Sep 29, 2011 at 03:13 AM]
Yeah I can't help but think it would be cheaper if they used a 125 which might cost a bit more but wouldn't cycle for years rather than months, anyways I'm logging off for the night now.
