Cree XSP LED sprawl
Over the past few weeks here, all the Peel Regional owned roads are changing over to Cree LED's rapidly. What all the different areas that have been changed over have in common is that the City owned streetlights haven't been touched almost at all. My guess is the City owned lights will be done at another time. This section of road was half Cree'd today for about just under a KM. Its still a work in progress but by the looks of it they'll be back again this week to finish it.

The one on the left definitely is a Cree. Its a XSP2 with two LED modules. The one with the single LED module is a Cree XSP1.

I have a Cree XSPR (the ugly tennis racket looking ones lol). I'd love to find one of these or the smaller brother of it.

RIDOT did a lot of conversions like this, doing one side at a time. Makes for some interesting comparisons!
Model25FanForever   [May 09, 2018 at 09:53 PM]
Yeah all of them are XSP2's here. In other areas in the province I think there are XSP1's being used. Id say the XSP is the most common light in the province now considering its been used for countless conversions here

Oh my. I've seen them putting same output XSP2 lights on lower streetside powerline poles too Rolling Eyes This happened in the neighbour city Mississauga with their wafer variety LED.

I drove by tonight to see how much different the light output is, was gonna take a photo but the glare of it wont do justice for the Cree's. Funny thing is this exact Cree in the photo is the only one thats not lit. Laughing

No kidding. Houston, Tx has Philips Lumec and Hadcos, Crees and Elite Star LED streetlights. As well as the GE Evolve ERL-1 LED streetlights. I think there are still some HPS streetlights surviving in Houston, but maybe.

The north part of Harris County and south Montgomery County, Tx still has HPS streetlights and or believe it or not, maybe MV streetlights as well. But part TX 249 is converted to LED (especially the high masts), but if go south of TX 249, all of it is HPS, with some high masts have flood lights on them as a "z" pattern, which you'll see those at FM 1960.

They did that on one of the roads in Markham too, unfortunately I never got a pic of it before they came and converted the other side.
Model25FanForever   [May 10, 2018 at 12:12 PM]
Yeah, we got Cree XSP's, Cooper NVN's, AEL Autobahns, and a few small sections GE Evolves. It looks like Cree's will be the most common fixture here soon. I think there is a Phillips LED thats being used in a small section too
lightingfan8902   [May 10, 2018 at 01:27 PM]
Oh yeah, I also forgot to add this in. TXDOT is also doing the conversions to their streetlights, in intersections and in some major roadways. The ones I seen their using are Philips Lumec Roadfocus RFM, and Philips Hadco RX2, Cooper Lighting Navion, and Verdeons (which the Verdeons are UGLY looking), and some other LED streetlights that they're using which I don't know of.

Most TXDOT roadways now have LED streetlights. US 290 has been converted to LED, which is the Philips Hadco RX2s they now have out, but keep going south of US 290, there HPS high masts and the six flood light "z" type pattern, which is the older version than the 12 flood light "z" type pattern high masts. Also Grandparkway (TX 99) is also going to LED streetlights as well. With those Cooper Navion, and Verdeons, yet there still HPS streetlights in Grandparkway (TX 99) still being used which is the GE M400R2 FCO Version. These are still being used in the Grandparkway.

UPDATE: The OVX is now gone, go figure lol.

I like the RX2's. I don't find them terrible looking fixtures, its too bad that they dont have LED retrofit kits for most lights out there today. Verdeons have got to be the ugliest LED fixture for roadway. I can think of a few others that are almost or are as bad. Yeah we have LED highmasts here too. I figured Highmasts would be the very last fixtures to go LED. MTO here hasn't really started any LED work on the 400 series highways yet.

@m@, I seen Langley adding Crees at Kennedy at Chruch st and Queen St from Dixie to 410.
lightingfan8902   [May 10, 2018 at 11:57 PM]
Yep, and that's why that the Cooper Verdeons look like crap shovels. Laughing
m@   [May 11, 2018 at 04:17 AM]
"Verdeon, an ugly name for an ugly fixture, TM"
Model25FanForever   [May 11, 2018 at 09:57 PM]
Definitely the ugliest fixture lol. Im relieved that we didn't use those Verdeons here for a changeover. *knock on wood*

How do I not be a newie anymore? Been here longer than you
xmaslightguy   [May 12, 2018 at 03:54 AM]
m@
Its based on how many posts you make in the forum.
ZarlogH46   [May 12, 2018 at 03:55 AM]
If this place is anything like LG, you need to post more in the forums.
joe_347V   [May 12, 2018 at 04:57 AM]
Yeah the back end of this site is almost the same as LG. I believe LG has some minor differences but yeah the member ranks are based off posts in the forum. I believe forum games isn't counted in the total post count if you regularly post in there and are still wondering why your rank is still newbie.

I think MTO is doing some LED tests near 401 and 427 and new installs since mid 2016 have been LED so they're probably considering conversion sometime in the near future. Toronto also seems to be considering conversion too.
streetlight98   [May 12, 2018 at 10:26 PM]
@ m@: You need 100 posts or more to not be a "Newbie" anymore IIRC. I wouldn't stress about the whole rank thing anyway. I never liked the idea of it anyway since it doesn't say anything about how "valuable" a member is on the site.
Model25FanForever   [May 13, 2018 at 03:23 AM]
I never paid attention to the "ranks". I thought it was just given through admins.
Model25FanForever   [Oct 30, 2018 at 02:40 AM]
Believe it or not, Already 2 Cree's have been replaced by HPS Cobras.
