[Gone] The Abused Pole
|
This pole and lights have been hit or knocked down atleast 3 or 4 times in the last 5 years. Its seen brand new OVX's a few times too. This little area seems to be a hot spot to median knockovers due to the curve in part of the road.
Another edit: 8+ times poles and even pylons have been knocked here

The same neighbour pole installed with this one remains, and is hella glary with 400WHPS FCO mounted super low.
This pole personally affected me stuck in traffic for a half hour en route home. Saw the aftermath of a car hit: arms are on the ground but the octagonal steel pole served its purpose by staying up instead of being broken away into oncoming traffic, but severely tilted along with the new poured base, unusual to see around here. I now see no point of pouring a base when it needs a new pour every hit, might as well go back to a heavy duty concrete bury pole.
I get a bit of anxiety and watch my speed a lot more when driving by this section of road everytime
Over here breakaway bases are are rare outside of freeways for some reason.
I love the city's new maintenance contractor responsiveness
