How much was it?
rlshieldjr   [Aug 23, 2010 at 06:08 PM]
A reminder to open the box and check, as I recall some one had a pic titled "Dont Get Snookered" Are there any mercs in the parking lot that are supposed to be MH?
GullWhiz   [Aug 23, 2010 at 06:25 PM]
Hmmmmm Rich...you make it sound like some contractors would actually go into store, switch em, and lamp it in parking lot
Form109   [Aug 23, 2010 at 08:46 PM]
Jace the Lamp was About 10 Bucks.

@rlshieldjr i never saw the lot at night,so i dont know for sure.

but seeing how the parking lot fixtures are 175 Watts its Clear that the walmart took the lazy way out.

even though the lamp wasn't the one that was supposed to be in the package i didn't get mad at all cause it was cool to find the metal arc in the box.

It may not be the Walmart property...but the contractors.....whoever owns the lot...depends on where Walmart was......if Walmart was found at a shopping center...then its the Shopping center's property...but sometimes Walmart has their own property...without any other store property...
Form109   [Aug 24, 2010 at 12:36 PM]
the walmart is its own property.

Are you sure? Wal-Mart usually doesn't buy the lot. Most if not all Wal-Marts are leased. Unless this is a really old Wal-Mart. The W-Marts here use 1KW MH Gallerias so I hope the contractor doesn't put in 175w MV lamps. Shocked
joe_347V   [Sep 28, 2011 at 01:04 AM]
Pfft my local Walmart uses HPS in the lot (this one actually Shocked ) and I believe they own the lot too.
streetlight98   [Sep 28, 2011 at 01:07 AM]
The ones here lease the parking lot and building. That way it's easier to move locations. I believe they own the lights though as they're on a separete switch from the other lights in the mall.

Very often Walmart builds their OWN building....Walmart is VERY RICH...don't forget that.......But there are very few cases when Walmart shares other properties with other smaller stores...but often....I find Walmarts pop up in a very quiet once to be a happy small city...until the DREADED day Walmart decided to choose the SPOT to take over...and make it a noisy place!

One of the 10 reasons Target is better than Walmart...

Ten reasons why Target is Better than Walmart
Enjoy it, and I totally agree with all those...its actually facts...but with humor added to it!

That thing about the parking lot is true, my Walmart does have trucks parked in the back of the lot all the time, and the aisles are really crowded. Shocked
streetlight98   [Sep 28, 2011 at 08:01 PM]
I like Target too, but Wal-Mart is really killing Taget up here. There are soooo many W-Marts here and onlt a few Targets. I agree about the atmosphere. I mean chaeck out peopleofwalmart.com Shocked You will never see that at a Target. My aunt works in the food department at Wal-Mart and she says "They cut my hours down to the bone and pay me next to nothing", "If you make one mistake, it'll be your last paycheck". She said she may end up going to work at Target because she's tired of seeing half drinken bottles of milk in the fridge isle.
gailgrove   [Sep 28, 2011 at 09:28 PM]
I personally hate Wal-Mart, we don't have any Targets here yet but some are going to be opening in 2013.
streetlight98   [Sep 28, 2011 at 09:55 PM]
There hasn't been any Targets opening or closeing here. They're still doing good business here, Wal-Mart is keeping them from being able to open new stores though. One thing i find about Target that I like is they spend some of theire profits on fixing up the store rather than worring about opening a new store. The Wal-Mart stores here arn't dumpy, they just don't have that nice "atmosphere" like Target does. The general clientele is just lousy.
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:14 AM]
I hope they at least keep at least one Zellers store in my area...don't really want to see them all converted to Targets. Razz

There's a Walmart near me with drop ceilings and troffers instead of the standard striplights and open ceiling. It does look a bit nicer than the others.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:17 AM]
The one thing i like about walmart over target is that they sell HID fixtures and lamps. They carry Regent MV lamps from early as 2000. Shocked
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:19 AM]
Mine dosen't anymore. Sad They did sell them around ten years ago though, I have a couple of Regent 175w blasters with Walmart inventory labels from around that time.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:22 AM]
They don't sell Regent fixtures anymore. They sell the MH and HPD Brinks ones. The newer medium base HPS and MH lamps are Brinks too, but the old mercury lamps with 10 years of dust are Regent. The store is becoming a Super Center, so those lamps may be going. And i may swipe them off the self with a few incandescnets. Smile
joe_347V   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:26 AM]
My Walmart sells GE incandescents and fluorescents, oddly they also sell the 100-200-300w three way mogul...although I've yet to see someone buy them.
streetlight98   [Sep 29, 2011 at 02:29 AM]
Here they only sell medium base incandescents. They sell up to 4ft tubes at my local walmart. The Great Value CFLs are everywhere too. Rolling Eyes Do i choose Great Value of LOA CFLs? Razz Laughing They both suck. At least they sell GE lamps too. Surprised
