Ooo dat's bright! Very Happy If you happend to ever find BLB lamps for this, you'd have one heck of a halloween light!

Yeah dat 4 lamper. I wonder if they make 6' /BLBs Razz

If you want to make it even brighter, I guess you can convert it to HO or VHO/PG. Cool Razz

Yeah I dunno if they make 6' BLB's,that would sure look cool. Razz I also have the mate to this fixture mounted on the ceiling in my shop, luckily it wasn't as badly damaged and I was able to keep it an 8 footer.

I've never seen a strip light with more than two lamps. I've seen three and four lamp troffers and wraps but I think that's it for >2 linear fluorescent fixtures.

The four lamper 8' slimlines used to be quite common in supermarkets. Some disappeared during the switch to T8 but the move away from drop ceilings killed most of the rest off.

Hmm here I remember most places here using either 2X4 troffers (lensed or parabolic) or they had the 1X8 recessed fitures. I wasn't alert to lighting until the 2000s though.

I can remember when the open plenum ceilings became popular, there was this new grocery store that had HPS floods mounted on each side of the columns aimed up for some of the illumination of the store. Shocked

HPS floods for indoor lighting? Shocked Ick! Laughing

Very nice Darren! What are in there for ballasts?
lite_lover   [Aug 30, 2014 at 07:43 PM]
Thanks Andy! There is an original Canadian General Electric ballast and a early 90's Philips ballast.I replaced the other CGE ballast with the Philips years ago when this fixture was still an 8 footer in the garage of the house I used to live in,that ballast was blowing out the cathodes quickly on new tubes.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Aug 30, 2014 at 07:47 PM]
Oh this was in a house you used to live in? What's the whole story behind this light then? Wasn't that house being torn down or something?
lite_lover   [Aug 30, 2014 at 08:11 PM]
Yes this fixture and another one were in the garage of the house I used to live in,they originally came from a tire store my dad worked at in the 80's and we saved a couple of them that were removed when there was a renovation. When I moved I wanted to take the lights too,due to lack of time I had to abandon that plan. The property was purchased by developers and a plan to build condos was proposed, about a year and a half ago the house and workshop were going to be torn down. When I went there to see about salvaging stuff they had already ripped them down to start removing the drywall for recycling hence the damage to them especially this one that they through out the window and it hit a tree crushing the end. At least I got them back after all that lol.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Aug 30, 2014 at 08:53 PM]
At least they "recycled" drywall as opposed to it ending up in a landfill! Did you save anything else?
lite_lover   [Aug 30, 2014 at 09:33 PM]
Yeah at least they recycle the gypsum, the concrete from the foundation gets hauled away to another facility and ground down into roadbase type materal and the wood etc goes through a grinder.
streetlight98   [Aug 30, 2014 at 10:31 PM]
Hmm I didn't know that drywall could be "recycled". In out construction class I believe our scrap wood is sold to a mulch company.
