Nice find! M-1000s are quite rare in the GTA. Cool Are they still MV or retrofitted to HPS/MH?
Hanging Light   [Aug 04, 2013 at 11:46 PM]
They are HPS for sure. There was another one at the entrance of this plaza where there are bolts and the base remaining. They may have taken it down while putting up the OVX's back in 2005. I have never seen these anywhere else but its an old enough plaza to have these M-1000's. Did they use them for MTO freeway lighting or road lighting anywhere?

Looks like a Gull is rather interested as well. Nice find those are some long arms for M-1000's.

There's a Metro distribution centre near 427 and Dundas that still has a few of these left on similar poles but that's all I know of. I think I might have seen a old pic of Yorkdale with M-1000s though.

I believe MTO never used the M-1000 even back in the MV days. Powerlite B2213s and Line Material Unistyle 1000s were used instead. I think the highest wattage used on the arterials were 400w MV in those days so I don't think any city streets ever used 1kW mercs.

Oh they have quite a few there. Vintage kings highways never had any of these shown either. B2213s I know were used, actually one is left in a parking lot at Renforth and the 427.

There's around two dozen of them scattered amongst older parking lots in my neighbourhood. Here's a pic of a couple of them.

The Canadian Tire warehouse down the street has some B2213's and B2255's in it still too. A few have been replaced with shoeboxs.

Interesting, I didn't know the Canadian Tire warehouse was old enough to use B2213s. The since demolished one at 401/Leslie used to have B2213s too.

Nope I was wrong I was there this evening and those are MV! Shocked Surprised The white glow was an instant sign. Except the one the gull is flying into is dead.

Nice! Too bad it's quite far from my house or I'd go take some night pics.
Hanging Light   [Aug 20, 2013 at 04:08 PM]
I think I might soon too Razz

I've always liked these lights and they are definitely still MV. I remember two were out a couple of years ago, so that must mean they're still being maintained. I'd love to get one if they even get taken down, but I'd rather they stay up.
Hanging Light   [Aug 24, 2013 at 02:13 AM]
I can let you know because im there a lot, I think there was a fifth a while back ago at the entrance Razz

I'm near Queen and Torbram, your guess about my username is right. Laughing
Hanging Light   [Aug 24, 2013 at 02:34 AM]
I know it exists because I know someone who lives near there lol
gailgrove   [Aug 24, 2013 at 02:48 AM]
Lol, it's really a small world. I have no idea why I chose the username back in 2009 on LG.net, but I did.
joe_347V   [Aug 24, 2013 at 02:49 AM]
I find it funny those who are online right now are all in the GTA. Razz
Hanging Light   [Aug 24, 2013 at 02:51 AM]
I thought of my username using the lights on Queen street west Laughing The Teardrops they are hanging

I just used the shortened version of my name and the 347v is a voltage I think is unique to Canada. I don't remember about my LG username though.
