Westinghouse 175w /DX
Here's a NOS Westy 175w DX merc cleartop that I think was made in the 70s (Date Code 13). It also has a full frame and thicker phosphor than my 175w Sylvanias from the 80s.

Got this in a trade with Aaron, thanks again xD.

NOS it looks? Nice lamp! I'll be getting one like this from Jace with my Westie NEMA from Jace.
A_lights   [Feb 15, 2013 at 11:51 PM]
actually it has a few hundred hours on it, i ran it every once in a while in my wall-pack for hours at a time

Still a sweet lamp, I want one of these someday!!!
streetlight98   [Feb 16, 2013 at 12:02 AM]
Ahh i see. Is the arc tube blackened at all on the ends or is it very faint?
joe_347V   [Feb 16, 2013 at 12:26 AM]
Thanks...The ends still look NOS to me, there's probably only some slight whitening on the end with the starting probe. The arctube still looks a lot better than the one on my Caster lamp. Razz
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 12:50 AM]
Well what do you expect from a Caster? Laughing Of course a Westy LifeGuard is better!
Have you fired this up yet?
joe_347V   [Feb 16, 2013 at 12:51 AM]
Yep I did, ran it for about an hour.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 12:57 AM]
Cool, I guess we all need some HID setup indoors...if I can find a MV fixture of 175w or less it'll go in my room...the 400w MH I have is too bright...
A_lights   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:01 AM]
175W really is a good amount of light for a room ! and right now my wall-pack has a slightly dimmed/greened out westy lifeguard
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:12 AM]
Coated or clear?
A_lights   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:22 AM]
coated /DX (which i prefer)
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:24 AM]
Cool, is it lit right now?
A_lights   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:27 AM]
nope, i am on the computer downstairs, don't have a laptop or one in my room unfortunately, right now 2 fixtures lit are modern deco F22/32W circlines with Phillips 830 lamps
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:29 AM]
Ahh I see...
In this room there's lots of lit florescents!
A_lights   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:34 AM]
more light the better! IMO Very Happy
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 16, 2013 at 01:37 AM]
Same here! Don't make me drag out the 400w MH Laughing
streetlight98   [Feb 16, 2013 at 02:28 AM]
yeah i like a lot of light fixtures but with a huge switch bank so the amount of light can be adjusted to what i need. for instance, have four lamp fixtures with two separate circuts and have every other fixture on a different circut too so in total there are four switches, one for circut 1A, one for 1B, one for 2A, and one for 2B. i like adjustable lighting. Surprised
joe_347V   [Feb 16, 2013 at 04:52 AM]
Well in my room I usually only run lamps up to 200w since my room gets pretty stuffy with higher wattages running, I also like having variable amounts of light too.
