My M-1000 getting taken down by the crew!
Here is the people who are demolishing the building taking my light off the pole. Pretty much what they did was Saw a part of the arm off instead of getting tools to take it off, and used these lifts.

This was after they sawed the arm off so they are holding it, this was the last remaining pole that was still up, and soon the other two M-400's will be sadly trashed, but at least I saved one of them!

Nice of them to give you it!

The linemen in my area would never do that for me.
rjluna2   [Feb 09, 2012 at 12:17 AM]
Whoa! Shocked That is really huge!
LilCinnamon   [Feb 09, 2012 at 12:31 AM]
These weren't even linemen. They are the people who work for the demolition company to tear down the building and demolish it. All the other fixtures they just took a chain and yanked down the pole violently. They just did it nicer for me so I could have a full fixture.

I just got lucky there was still a pole up.

Wow. How much does your M-1000 weigh?
LilCinnamon   [Feb 09, 2012 at 04:43 AM]
Not very heavy, and it's not much bigger than a normal M-400, It probably has the same top housing as the original M-400 but just with a different door and a bigger reflector and refractor.

Your such a lucky person! Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Very Happy

I guess a B2213 is bigger than a M-1000 eh?
LilCinnamon   [Feb 09, 2012 at 03:44 PM]
Actually it wasn't "Right place right time" Actually they are working every day to demolish this building, I asked about these lights The day before yesterday and he said to come back tomorrow, so I did (which was yesterday) and was able to get the light.

I just discovered that the old hospital will start to be demolished next week! There are about 70 or so poles around the site and all will be coming down within the next eight months. There are several old Holophane wall packs too, I hope to get quite a few lights from that!
LilCinnamon   [Feb 09, 2012 at 06:01 PM]
What lights do they have? What fixtures?
gailgrove   [Feb 09, 2012 at 07:07 PM]
They have two kinds of Holophane post tops, AEL 125s, OVZs, and a lot of R37s and model 113s!
LilCinnamon   [Feb 10, 2012 at 03:45 PM]
If you can get a 125 can I have it? I have been looking for a 125 for a while. xD What are the wattage and lamp types of the 125's?
gailgrove   [Feb 10, 2012 at 04:45 PM]
I'm not sure I'd there is one, it looked like there where two from a distance. I would think they are 250 watt HPS.

Nice save! Very Happy I was able to obtain a Form 400 and a Line Materials Ovalite pretty much the same way. I even got some pics of them bringing down the pole and (ever so gently) removing the fixture, which now hangs over my couch.
Truckersboy2010   [Mar 02, 2012 at 10:12 PM]
correct me if im wrong....sooo people will actually let you have a street light if you ask them???????? Shocked Shocked
gailgrove   [Mar 02, 2012 at 10:16 PM]
Quite often! They don't really care about old lights that are going to be scrapped. I got all but two of my lights free and legally (those two I paid for). You should contact your utility company and see if they will give away some!
Truckersboy2010   [Mar 02, 2012 at 10:55 PM]
will do i want the one infront of my house! Very Happy
gailgrove   [Mar 02, 2012 at 11:20 PM]
Well they won't give it to you if it's in service and doing its job, however if the ballast dies and it comes down you could likely get it.
