Westinghouse OV-15 4th Generation Lit
Here it is lit with 85W of Induction light. It's very MV-like (a phosphored MV that is). Very diffused and beautiful light. There's something missing without that magnetic hum though, but visually it's all there. Not sure how many lumens this is, but I'd say it's around the same brightness as 175W MV, maybe a little brighter.

Wow, that fixture is looking awesome! Great job refurbishing it Smile

Thanks! The paint will remain original on this light since the fixture is in good shape. I added the PC socket (not perfect, but it'll do...) and I was able to remove all four threaded rods for the slipfitter from the casting and will get new ones tomorrow.

Sounds good.

The new rods are in now. I'll post pics now...

Yeah, it does look like MV. The driver will probably last long since it's heatsinked too.

Yeah the driver runs quite cool actually. No hotter than an HID ballast (which may be hot for an electronic ballast, but it's not scorching). Now the induction lamp itself runs blistering hot. I can't even touch the socket bracket, however the glass and the top of the fixture housing are just warm to the touch. Unlike HID lamps, the induction seems to emit most of its heat through conduction rather than radiating it, as the heat seems to be mostly at places touching the lamp directly.

Ahh, my only experience with induction lamps is those self ballasted ones I picked up a few years ago and I remember the bulbs on those got pretty hot during operation too.

Yeah you had given me one of those Sylvania Dura-One lamps when we had briefly met up. Really cool concept but yeah, a lot of heat!
