The person servicing the light left the cover he uses for testing the fixture on the photocontrol, and it's been there ever since!

Wouldn't it actually be better for the lamp with less starts? Although in 24/7 use does it really matter?

I would think, I know with MH the instructions tell you to shut off the lamp for at least 15 minutes if it run 24/7 to reduce the risk of catastophic failure.

yeah 24/7 operation is no good for HID. It's good for the PC and the ignitor though lol.

It's a bad idea to let HID fixtures dayburn unless you want the ballast to wear out LOL.

Yeah, the caps sometimes fail when fixtures dayburn. I believe fixtures without caps handle 24/7 dayburning better.
