I guess Pomona has gone back to mercs...
Here's a street light lit by the new inductions in rebuilt cobraheads on Phillips St in Pomona, CA facing west. Other than the higher color temperature at 5000K (compared to DX mercs), they look just like mercs!

Yeah, it really does look like the real thing and it's cool that they rebuilt the old cobras instead of scrapping them.

Welllllllll isn't induction a form of a low pressure mercury lamp? Then they ARE mercs! Just no arc tube and electrodes lol.
streetlight98   [Feb 27, 2012 at 09:21 PM]
@ dave don't tell IDA that or induction will be next on the "let's ban this" list. Rolling Eyes Laughing
CrazyLamp   [Feb 27, 2012 at 09:29 PM]

streetlight98   [Feb 27, 2012 at 10:38 PM]
Really? Sounds good to me lol. Laughing
CrazyLamp   [Feb 27, 2012 at 10:46 PM]
and thank to the IDA for the FCO crap too. they dont have a dam clue about lighting. SA have the same problem around camp bullis area
wich is a military traning site. most of the problem is those mis aimed flood l.ights. and bisnesses are a problem for mis derected lights
streetlight98   [Feb 27, 2012 at 10:55 PM]
Yeah some businesses are just too cheap to purchase "good" lighting (for lack of a better term) so they just get a 1KW MH flood, aim it vertical so it lights up the whole lot, and call it a day. Rolling Eyes Confused

I wonder what would IDA have to say about this if those skyward gumballs actually worked. Razz
streetlight98   [Feb 27, 2012 at 11:39 PM]
Maybe it was an IDA agent that disconnected them. Razz Laughing
CrazyLamp   [Feb 28, 2012 at 01:09 AM]
i have an IDA guy live right next to me up the hill. complain about the light i use and my next door neihbor. so i made his day when he up there viewing the telscope I beamed the light right up at him. a buddy of mine brought over a 1.5kw MH flood light. so he have to live like th rest of us.
streetlight98   [Feb 28, 2012 at 01:34 AM]
That sucks. Thankfully there're no IDA goons here. Laughing
joe_347V   [Feb 28, 2012 at 04:48 AM]
Laughing I love your 1.5 kW MH solution to dealing with IDA people.
Silverliner14B   [Feb 28, 2012 at 08:20 AM]
Yup, see this IDA article.

And LOL, yeah how about a 24,000 watt HMI lamp directed at the DRKSKY fanatic? Laughing
mercuryvaporrocks   [Feb 28, 2012 at 11:29 AM]
I'm glad there's no IDA low lifes in my area.
