Outdated 350VA 200W uninterruptible power supply.
I also found this thing at the recycle centre. I came back from there expecting a dead battery or something else faulty in this device, but nope! It's a perfectly working unit! It features 4 surge and power outage-protected outlets, and 4 surge-protected outlets.

The primary application for a UPS is usually computers. It allows you to save whatever you need to keep and safely shut down the computer. Keep in mind a UPS can't draw hundreds of watts for hours! My model can draw 200W during barely a minute! That's probably why it got thrown away, since computers rarely draw less than 200W today (except laptops probably).

However these outdated UPS supplies are still perfectly suitable for other electronic, lower power equipment! Say you have a small 13W TV and a PS3, well if you have a power outage, the UPS will do its job and keep power to the TV and console while you save your game and turn everything off!

So I'll keep that UPS for such cases, it may make things MUCH easier if I lose power, say in a bad snowstorm, to keep track of the storm in a 13" TV!

cool! i found a working one in the trash and ran a 100W EYE self ballasted MV for about an hour or two

Now remember, it will not work with simple choke 18 Watts fluorescent lights if the power is interrupted. I have it with the exact same APS 350 UPS hooked up directly to the desk lamp Razz

Nice find, They should still sell the older low wattage models, I could use one of these for my router. Very Happy

I tried a F15T8 undercabinet fixture (preheat). The tube barely stays on for three seconds then the UPS trips LOL.

Is there a reason why one receptacle on each side is isolated from the rest?
TiCoune66   [Apr 04, 2012 at 11:42 PM]
There doesn't seem to be one XD. The newer model replacing this one only has six outlets, the two outlets separated from the others have been removed.

I think they separated those two outlets so that you can plug power bricks into it without blocking the outlet next to it.

I see a little booklet for a game I played a long time ago. xD I think I might still have it.. But I don't play that anymore, I do more... Final Fantasy stuff lol.

Anyway, nice thing, where is the battery? And how would it power a game system? O.o

Battery and everything is inside the case. Normally a sealed lead acid battery 12V 7AH. Generally will give 10 minutes at full load, up to about 20 at low load. APC does make good quality units.
