Philips still lists the 2500 and 4000 lumen lamps in their 2011 catalog, unless they stopped recently?

I'm going to miss the series acorns when they're gone...they were the classic suburban streetlight. I love watching a series string come on.

Looks like HPS.
streetlight98   [Apr 11, 2012 at 08:13 PM]
almost...

I saw these last night, and they are all HPS, on multiple circuits Crying or Very sad

aw man. at least they're still HID and not LED or even worse, replaced entirely. Neutral

And they put new globes on them, with internal refractors.

here Providence has converted their MV and MH (and the HPS) acorn post tops to low wattage induction. the lamps are about the same size as A19 incandesecents and give off the light of about a 35W HPS lamp. so not too bright...

Personally I'd rather see lights like those as induction instead of HPS...but MV or MH would be the best IMO...

yeah i was pleased to see them as induction instead of LED but I'd rather them be a little brighter since remember, this is downtown Providence. they need more than just 35W HPS equivalent fixtures lighting the roads. Shocked

Well, induction would be ok if they used 80w or higher lamps, but personally 3000K MH would be the best match for incandescent.

i don't think they really care about making them look like incandescents. the lamps just happen to be a similar size. the lamps are really high in the globes too with the gear underneath it. they did a poor job putting the globes back on as quite a few are tipping or gone compleatly. there's one acorn i saw that was rusty and light green with a dirty globe and doesn't work at night. Probably one of the original mercs. i think when they went to MH they changed out the lights or at the very least repainted them black.
