OV-15 on new polefab in 2016! So, its confirmed that this is a new direct bury polefab pole! In the 2015 streetview theres actually a temporary wooden pole holding this OV-15 during the reconstruction of the building behind it and the new entrance. Typically any new install code where a polefab comes down gets replaced by either a steel/aluminum pole with a concrete base(very rare) or a direct bury concrete pole. So, its confirmed that this is a new direct bury polefab pole! Interesting that they transferred this old OV-15 onto the new pole. If a light pole (aka a pole just for the light; not a utility pole with power lines) gets replaced, they never transfer the light here. Same goes for when the mast arm is replaced on a wood pole.

For those unfamiliar with pole-fab poles, they are sections of galvanized tubes stacked together. Direct bury ones are not meant to be installed around here anymore as time has shown steel contacting the ground still ends up rusting the pole. Perhaps this new pole has better galvanizing than some older ones that rusted out.

Interesting, I haven't seen a newly installed direct bury Polefab either. Or any direct bury metal pole for that matter. All the metal pole installs I've seen since the early 90s use bolt bases instead.

I cant imagine this will be a new standard for polefab replacements. May not see this again, ever!?
