my first post: around 2005 when the city had one of the smaller contractors maintaining lights, they initially replaced that 3rd pole with around a 30' concrete one with the 400w ael125's seen here. A few month later this and several other 30'er concrete poles were "upgraded" to this 50' concrete pole. Then the city decided to replace all the originals with aluminum poles, but it would have been too many revisions to again replace the concrete pole modifications.
OH... this road is scheduled to become 6 lanes in the next few years, think they were smart enough to consider this system could be ideal for re-usage on the reconstructed road?
Hey Matt, welcome to GoL! I (as I'm sure you figured out) live in Brampton as well! I know this stretch of road has had a lot changes over the past few years. The former contractor was Langley Utilities, I got a large chunk of (...) my collection [/url] from them. I hadn't heard anything about Williams Pkwy being widened but it sure could do with it sometimes. Jace, here the city owns all of the lights and has contractors service them, rarely do they reuse anything though.

Hey gailgrove, if you dig into the city's website, they actually post pretty frequent updates on construction projects. There is even a completed environmental assessment for williams pkwy with blueprints of its future 6 lane state.

Oh man I know exactly where the last residential road shoebox lights are. These 2 were the last ones on the east side of Brampton. The farther concrete pole ( http://goo.gl/maps/9eSX4 ) was installed at the end of 2011. The closer one was installed February 2012. ( I actually watched them take it down.) The 3rd one on the row was replaced in 2004 just before they widened Dixie. I think it was hit by a car. At least they made the height of the new OVX pole fit in with the other pole with the B2255 on it. Not sure which Cobrahead lens they had on the shoebox's here.
@Hangin Light, I can't think of any tall pole shoe boxes left except for on Centre Street either. Good amount of small pole versions on residential streets all over the Brampton, some pretty rusty too. Isn't the only B2255 in the area on a shorter steel signal pole at the next intersection? Speaking of Dixie Rd, it's interesting seering what the end result will be approaching Steeles. All lights in the project are FCO except they put up some used drop lenses here, I think they are temporary, and will be replaced with island mounted FCO's on aluminum poles!
Conestoga does still. Yea that intersections lights were all sylvania. They have Island poles at the Airport one and Bramalea. I don't know if they are widening it past the train bridge or not.
Ah, you're following these projects close like me. I live near Conestoga Rd, yeah can't believe I forgot there are like 2 high shoe boxes left... Yeah they did expand that train bridge on Dixie to accommodate widening, but the work stops at the Bridge because I guess the Steeles intersection project isn't even intended to widen Dixie this far north of the intersection.
They are still there except some of the poles were kept. unfortunately they got lazy and just put on a tapered e-arm. They are using OVX, 115, and 125's. http://goo.gl/maps/Bmdmu . I heard they might expand Dixie from that bridge to Clark. That little area is where almost half the Model 25's in the whole city are.
Oh, I checked on the Streetview and there were a lot less Powerlite shoeboxes now than there was in the 90s. Well, at least the cool looking double shoebox one is still up.
Vaughan also used shoeboxes in their residential streets at one point but they're changing them out with LED.
On the 403 the Shoebox over the highway now has a OVX on it. The other one had a OVX on it for a long time. They left the double shoebox one still. I noticed there were some missing around the young street area.

Some electric comapny sometimes don't reuse while others would reuse....but some will reuse depending on condition....
