This High School had about 6 MV Nema Heads around its Perimiter (That i Saw)...most of them have been replaced by the Newer HPS Blasters....this nema in Particular seems like an Easy Fix...but too late now :-(

Did the one on the right still work? It even looks like the bulb is broken!

The Bulb is Broke yes,it didn't power on at night, but it was still connected to power.

At least they used a real PC. Neutral
Form109   [Oct 02, 2011 at 03:41 AM]
All PC's are "Real" they exist so therefore they are. Razz

How about a "full size" PC? Razz

And at least they used a 12" refractor.
Form109   [Oct 02, 2011 at 04:07 AM]
"Full Size" eh?...reguardless of the size of the housing the size of the Eye's are usually the same. Razz

and about a year ago a 12" Refractor actually fell off one of these...i kept it...if you look at my crude hi/low bay pic thats where that reflector came from....the refractor was mostly intact aside from one crack but that eventually went in the trash in addition to the reflector.

I actually thought that reflector was from your Regent bucket. Laughing
Form109   [Oct 02, 2011 at 05:19 AM]
no the regent bucket i had a few years ago had the standard 9" Refractor. Laughing

I cant tell for sure but this looks like the same barn light i bough from City Electric Supply. Mine also came with a "real" PC. It had the large 1 inch cadmium sulfide cell. But it was thermal. And the one i bought was flourescent. I only bought the flourescent beacuse flourescents don't take long to reach full brightness and we have it on a switch. That way we don't have to wait 5 minutes for the light to warm up when we go outside at night. I was surprised it is just a self ballasted CFL lamp. No ballast or anything. Just a photocell receptacle, lamp socket, and a CFL.

i'm not a huge fan of Fluorescent blaster's..aren't those 65W lamps rated only 8,000 Hours?
joe_347V   [Jan 12, 2012 at 06:29 AM]
They also don't warm up completely here in the winter.

I've actually never seen the ones that use a self ballasted lamp, the ones sold here use a ballast.

my porch light has a 13 Watt PL and it takes a very long time to fire up when the temps drop below 50 F i can imagine canada.

though i stuck a 13 watt PL in a floodlight made for a 300 Watt halogen and i could see that one surviving winter because it holds in heat fairly well.

Yeah CFL yardlights aren't practical here in Michigan, I've seen a few they're bright but not so much in the winter! They will often start veryy dim like an HID lamp and take 5 mins to warn up

My 13 watt CFL wall pack has actually done very well, that said we haven't even had any snow yet this year. Shocked
A_lights   [Jan 12, 2012 at 03:51 PM]
Yeah the smaller CFL lamps are usually not affected, I have 3 20W cfls in open bottom fixtures over 4 years
