My guess is the ballast died so they just put an incandescent in there...
Antstar85   [Feb 12, 2012 at 11:45 PM]
I dont even think that light is original to the pole the way they installed it. It's literally Taped On! Shocked
streetlight98   [Feb 12, 2012 at 11:49 PM]
Now that you mentioned it, I think so too. Shocked Reguardless, this is crazy and those people Boston has in charge of the lights are apparently unlicenced.
joe_347V   [Feb 12, 2012 at 11:56 PM]
Yeah more kwality work. Rolling Eyes
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 13, 2012 at 02:33 AM]
(puts up a mercury vapor 175w yardblaster)
TiCoune66   [Feb 13, 2012 at 03:20 AM]
Make sure to bolt it to the pole just below the refractor Laughing
joe_347V   [Feb 13, 2012 at 07:55 AM]
That refractor is attached using strapping, a rusty screw and electrical tape. Shocked
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 13, 2012 at 02:44 PM]
Tacky installation, but the globe looks nice, instead of a yardblaster I would just convert it to CLEAR MV unless it was too damaged, then I would put up a good l' yardblaster like I said before.
gailgrove   [Feb 13, 2012 at 04:18 PM]
Yardblasters aren't exactly made for roadway lighting.
mercuryvaporrocks   [Feb 13, 2012 at 05:29 PM]
There's high pressure sodium acorns in my town that are operated by a timer.
joe_347V   [Feb 13, 2012 at 07:07 PM]
Eh, removes yardblaster and puts up a Toronto gumball.
Form109   [Feb 20, 2012 at 02:15 AM]
i see this picture has a random thread below it! Razz
joe_347V   [Feb 20, 2012 at 03:50 AM]
So does this! Laughing
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 20, 2012 at 05:58 PM]
(installs a teardrop with a /DX coated 175w merc)
SeanB~1   [Feb 20, 2012 at 06:19 PM]
Whips off the acorn and photocell, puts a cheap chinese socket and a even cheaper daylight switch CFL in it's place, without even a cover. Taillight warranty on the whole lot.
GEsoftwhite100watts   [Feb 20, 2012 at 06:22 PM]
(removes CFL and installs SBMV 160w lamp...)
mercuryvaporrocks   [Mar 09, 2012 at 06:47 PM]
Removes incandescent lamp and installs induction lamp and ballast inside acorn.
joe_347V   [Mar 09, 2012 at 07:09 PM]
[insane version]Knocks down pole and replaces it with a 50 ft concrete pole with two 1 kW MV B2213s on 6ft MTO truss arms.
streetlight98   [Mar 09, 2012 at 08:21 PM]
[removes globe and lets the rain do the rest] Razz Laughing
GullWhiz   [Jul 23, 2012 at 02:23 AM]
Boston should be ashamed!
