Ever ask the question why the top section of a doghouse is different than the rest?
Its cause it's aluminum!! Plastic top sections result in the picture. They cant support the stress!!

Yeah, doesn't look very good, did you take this shot or was it some one else?

My buddy Phil took this.

Shocked that is badly made body. Now I know why they don't make like they used to Neutral

i wouldn't say its badly made....this could happen to any doghouse with a plastic top section...it doesn't support the heavy load very well and the plastic around the mount shears off the housing.

Devonte just repeated what I told him haha

But yes its not a badly made signal. Plastic just cant support the weight. This is why many doghouses have different model red sections when suspended from a single point attachment (like cable) The top section is made of aluminum while the bottom four sections are plastic.

When used in a top/bottom double point attachement (like a mast arm or side of a pole) all plastic can be used because the weight is distributed better.

Plastic powa! XD

Oh well, we're far from the good ol' cast iron traffic lights! Unless they've always been aluminium?

Hmm, I've have a poly signal with steel reinforcement plates in the red and yellow section but mine's only a three section light though.

Signals are made from aluminum.

And you don't need to reinforce a 3 section. The weight is distributed. In a 5 section light all the weight to support is put on the top section.

Beats me why they put the plates in but maybe it's because mine hung off the top from a mast arm?
basilicon89   [Feb 26, 2011 at 04:19 AM]
still the weight is distributed. None of the 3 plastic signals in my collection had reinforcments..sounds like the city just wanted to be careful in your case.

Alright, thanks..just wanted to make sure.
