"You Smell Somethin'?"
This is the reflector of the fixture. The two big blobs are hard tar but the rest of it is thin and watery, about the consistancy of pancake syrup.

PCB for sure then...

Oh yeah PCBs everywhere. Sad Probably not a drop of fluod left inside the capacitor lol.

If I didn't know better and saw this "in the wild" I'd assume 34 watt lamps killed this! Laughing

yeah I know. Shocked This was pretty catastrophic! Sad I had good 40W tubes in it too (well maybe not "good" but they were full wattage lamps; GE-made DoIt lamps).

Ouch, those GE Doit lamps are pretty decent lamps too. At least they should be common in your area.

I've actually never seen DoIt lamps before. i don't know where they're sold. I guess it's a store brand? They were in one of the twin 1977 fixtures from the ReStore. The other twin fixture had red-etched 34W lamps. i kept one RS and the other one IST8 and will replace the preheater at my grandpa's shop.
