[Gone] A Rare Find!
I found this pic when I was looking through my old pics from last year.

It's a rarely seen Powerlite B2217 with a PC socket. Too bad it was replaced with a FCO AE 115 this year. [img]http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/images/smiles/icon_mad.gif[/img] [img]http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img]

These look much like Spaulding Metropolitan cobras.

Update: the AEL 115 that replaced this was recently replaced with a LED

Thanks too bad this was the only pic I have of it before it was replaced by a 115. Confused
Model25FanForever   [Jan 26, 2014 at 03:29 PM]
Are they replacing the poles too or are they just installing them on thee same arm and pole?

Is that a OVX or OVZ behind the B2217? Confused
streetlight98   [Jan 26, 2014 at 03:42 PM]
Looks like maybe an R7 on the next pole? The refractor looks more tilted than the OVZ but the fixture looks slimmer than the OVX. Neutral

Hmm, looks like it was a OVZ the B2217 was on the pole right behind that has a 115 in the Streetview. Everything is now LED though. Neutral

yeah it looks to shiney to have been a powerlite...Though the B2217 was shiney too lol. Was the powerlite painted silver?
Model25FanForever   [Jan 27, 2014 at 02:35 AM]
I noticed in the streetview there was another B2217 on Jordan Crescent. Im assuming its now LED considering you said everything there is LED now
joe_347V   [Jan 27, 2014 at 02:47 AM]
Ooh I didn't even notice that one before too, yeah it's a LED now as Markham has been aggressively changing out lumes on side streets and in residential areas to HPS starting last fall. They're supposed to wrap up in April. My street is one of the few streets that still have HPS lights.
Model25FanForever   [Jan 27, 2014 at 02:50 AM]
Mine still is. No news of anything happening on these streets. I will find out when the city 2014 road construction specifications come out around March
streetlight98   [Jan 27, 2014 at 11:07 AM]
It's a shame you never see them working on the lights. Here in the 90s when they changed the mercs and incandescents to HPS, my uncl'es friend Marco had never seen them changing fixtures either. It always happened when he least expected it, probably overnight. He said the Cooper OVC that he gave me was mounted in front of his house and replaced a admiral's hat incandescent. in the late 90s, around the time I was born i guess, the OVC was removed and replaced with a 400W HPS flood light per his Mom's request (as she worked for NECo/NGrid) and he got the OVC. It's sat in his parents' basement ever since he moved out so he gave it to me. Right now it's outside on my light pole with a blue touch-and-glow PC and the GE lamp it came with.

Its rare that I ever get to see lights replaced. They kind of just show up. I saw them replace a shoebox before. When they widened a street here I saw them put up the new poles with OVX's in the middle. But spot replacements I almost never see. Same with Traffic signals they just randomly become Fortrans from one day to the next. Laughing Rolling Eyes

me too. here the street lights are serviced at night, though i did see a NGrid truck working on some of the freeway lights at the I-295/RI 37 interchange.
