Here's a bunch of AE125s on the Gardiner Expressway heading into downtown Toronto. The 125s replaced LPS lights in early '05 or '06 which previously replaced fluorescent lights around the '70s or so.
UPDATE: There been a lot of different replacements on the Gardiner in the last few years. There is one AE 115 replacement, lots of OVX's on new aluminum davits. This fall/Winter they have installed a bunch of GE M250 R2's. on this particular part of the Gardiner.
Interesting that they used GE M-250R2s. They seem to be virtually non-existant up there, though the M-250R2 here is the equivalent of the OVX up there- they're EVERYWHERE! lol
BTW, these poles remind me of the 1957 HAPCO poles used on Interstate 95 here. Stupid streetview doesn't want to cooperate at the moment so no street view link, buit the poles look very similar to this, just longer arms. they hold 250W HPS M-250R2s.

Also, These davits, which were installed less than 10 years ago, also look like the ones above. The lights are the original lights on the poles, however the lights are all being replaced with LEDs now. I'm not really too upset to see the M-400 FCOs get replaced or see the HID go, but I'm kinda upset that they decided to replace these lights, since they're only about seven years old! At least its not a huge loss... This interchange used to be totally lit by NGrid-owned 250W HPS M-250R2s with individual PCs on 10ft truss and 6ft tapered elliptical poles but RIDOT replaced them all with a RIDOT-owned metered lighting system around 2006 or 2007. This was the first M-400 FCO installation on Interstate 295. Now exits 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 all have these M-400 FCOs, replacing the NGrid-owned systems. Exit 8's lights were owned by the electric company but RIDOT now owns the lights (and kept the individual PCs and truss arms, though replacement poles are davits). Exit 9 is a mid-90s RIDOT system. The same tall davits on a relay system, but drop lens M-400R2s, Hubbell RLGs, 400W HPS M-250A2s, 250W HPS M-250R2s, and others. Exits 3, 10, and 11 are all NGrid-owned systems.
Currently this interchange in my most recent link in this comment is the only one I know of where the lights were replaced with LEDs without replacing the poles. The LEDs have only gone up in the past couple weeks too, since as of Thanksgiving, the interchange was 100% HPS. The lamps were only about 80% working so I kinda had a feeling something was coming up (i thought maybe they were waiting fr a relamp but they were waiting to replace them I guess). The LEDs are slightly dimmer than the 400W HPS (maybe as bright as 250W HPS) but the crisp white light makes them far more effective than the old HPS.
They are very hard to find, except downtown Toronto has quite a bunch of GE M250R2's. Almost all the ones in the Downtown Core of Toronto are These setups. Some of them are actually only two years old like this one that replaced a Gumball. Another thing is the Acorn lights are starting to take over the gumballs!
Looks like those poles used to hold fluorescent or LPS fixtures originally on your first link with the GE M250R2's. Theres only some GE M400 FCO's on a small expressway in the middle of the city. There hasnt been any sign of LED being used on the Gardiner Expressway yet. The MTO freeways have really starting to replace everything with FCO AE 125's on the truss poles.
Ah "Lights in Black", eh? We don't have any not-gray street lights here that I know of. Other places have them but RI has all gray cobraheads as far as I know. Those teardrop lights actualy look nice. They have a slight point to the lens unlike the gumballs. (BTW, these are acorn fixtures.)

RI had never used fluorescent street lighting and the only LPS lighting used was used in the 30s and 40s and was replaced by MV by the 1960s. I actually found a picture of Interstate 95 in 1982 and there's a picture of one of these poles and it still has one of the original OV-25 flatbottoms. I lost that pic though. However, I found this pic of a section of I-95 opening in 1964, with the same davits and OV-25 flatbottoms.
