New Streetlights
Here's some new [url=http://www.lumec.com/pdf/series/Capella_series.pdf]Lumec streetlights[/url] being installed as part of a project to install bus lanes on this road. Check out the oddball arms used for the temporary lighting too.

These used to be the original lights on this stretch (along with FCO B2255s) of road on 40' aluminium poles and tapered e arms. They're 250w HPS too, a bit bright imo for the pole spacing.

I think the arms are made by Al-Struct (TnB) as they have similar arms.
Mercuryvapor123   [Mar 17, 2013 at 06:19 PM]
(TnB) ? do you have a link?

Here you go. Most of their designs originated for
the old Powerlite designs too. Razz

Eh not a fan of the new flying saucers being installed lol.

Me too, it seems whenever they add a transit lane these weird looking lights are also installed Rolling Eyes at least they're still HID though.

actually, come to think of it, these look similar to a computer mouse lol.

These computer mice lights apparently come in LED. Seen them install any ones LED yet?
joe_347V   [Jun 21, 2016 at 08:32 PM]
None that I know of, I think even the new ones in Newmarket are still HPS even though the rest of the town had converted to LED. There are also PSMH versions of these on St. Clair.

Update: I've noticed that a LED version went up along some newer parts of Hwy. 7 a few months ago.

LED's are really starting to take over Ontario. Im guessing within 10 years it will all be LED.
joe_347V   [Oct 20, 2017 at 06:43 AM]
I read that these are staying HPS for the time being. They were only installed in 2012-2013 and are too new for a complete LED refit. I guess in 5 years they might reconsider and replace everything with LED or whatever the lighting bandwagon is by then. Laughing

Hmm interesting. Around here they were installing HPS on RIDOT's poles just weeks before changing them all to LED. Rolling Eyes Apparently they wanted to use up existing stock, verify the wiring was all in working condition, and take lux measurements of the freeways before going LED so they relamped/replaced bad fixtures before going LED (and replaced missing poles with new ones holding HPS lights, only for the HPS light to get LED'ed weeks later). What a horrible waste IMO. I really wanted to get some of the RIDOT HPS lights but never got into contact with the company doing the changeout. RIDOT was no help. Laughing

Yeah seems like a big waste when they probably could have sold off the existing stock to a smaller utility/town who might not be interested in a LED refit anytime soon. During the last year of HPS streetlighting in Markham, they stopped replacing the fixture during a pole renewal and instead transferred the old fixture onto the new pole/arm.

Maintenance was pretty bad in the last couple of years before the LED refit too with a good number of lights either cycling, dead, or dayburning. The LEDs installed here in 2013-2014 seem to be holding up fairly well but the ones installed in 2015 are starting to die. Two got spot replaced with FCO HPS and there's another that has a dying driver which just flashes like a strobe light all night. Rolling Eyes Laughing
