ICI Lite-Light
Here's a odd ICI Lite-Light security light I found from a hardware store. It's a security light from the late 80s that looks like a residential version of a Powr/Bracket. Oddly the ballast is electronic and is integrated with the PC, but it looks like a standard HPS choke and button PC can be fitted when the ballast fails.

It use a 80w MV and came with a Hungarian made (Tungsram?) unbranded brite-white deluxe /DX lamp from September 1987.

Electronic MV ballasts... I want to see that on the market! Cool
gailgrove   [Mar 18, 2012 at 01:32 AM]
Nice! Where'd you get it from?
joe_347V   [Mar 18, 2012 at 01:58 AM]
@Vince, I think LOA might have also came up with a electronic MV fixture too. Anyways here's a link to a pic of the ballast.

@Niall, thanks! I got it from a Truvalue in Elora.

Interesting ! Id like to see a picture of that electronic mercury vapor ballast

Thanks Aaron, there's a link to the ballast in my last comment. Wink
gailgrove   [Mar 18, 2012 at 10:26 PM]
Interesting, I'm sure this isn't nearly as durable as a magnetic ballast though.
joe_347V   [Mar 18, 2012 at 11:01 PM]
Yeah, Confused I guess it's HPS conversion time if the ballast blows or 75w MV if I can get two F40 preheat ballasts to fit in the arm.
streetlight98   [Mar 18, 2012 at 11:05 PM]
@ Joe, use 4 of those little 20 watt preheat chokes. Surprised I guess this was the answer to keeping mercs from being as reliable.
joe_347V   [Mar 18, 2012 at 11:09 PM]
Nah that won't work with a merc Razz , 20w chokes have a OCV of 120V while mercs usually need 200V+. The F40 preheat ballasts have a step up in them since the F40 lamps also need a higher OCV. I actually ran a 100w merc off a couple of them before. Razz

Find a 1000w MH remote ballast and run a BT56 from this light. Laughing

Melted fixture anyone? Laughing
TiCoune66   [Mar 19, 2012 at 02:55 AM]
I had to rip open a plastic-wrapped pack of cookies with my teeth today (greasy fingers XD), and almost ate some plastic, so I will have to decline this offer of roasted polycarbonate Laughing

Roasted ? More like gooey Shocked

I heard fixture gravy goes down good with mercury lamps. Laughing

Can you make a picture of this lit?
joe_347V   [Mar 26, 2012 at 02:52 AM]
I'll see if I can get one up tomorrow.
CrazyLamp   [Mar 27, 2012 at 03:43 AM]
my ICI tallpack got a 50 watt MV electronic ballast as well. but at least I can replace electtronic component when they go. the best thing to do before put in service is take a close up PICs. incase of you get burnt resistors at least you have a photo to get the correct valule.
when replaceing resistors.
A_lights   [Mar 27, 2012 at 03:53 AM]
Cool! A startup video would be really cool
CrazyLamp   [Mar 27, 2012 at 04:49 AM]
well here my PIC of ICI tall pack lit on MV electronic ballast. the link dont work on GOL.
go to funkybulb on Lighting gallery and you can see a pic of my ICI lit
icefoglights   [Jan 01, 2013 at 10:20 PM]
I found a 70 watt HPS version of that. It has an unsual magnetic ballast setup. I also found a pair of ICI 35 watt HPS tallpacks at the same place, though they have conventional ballasts.
