Quick Project: Adding a E26 base onto a B22YD based 55w SOX lamp
Soldering (the hot gluing) a medium base from a busted CFL onto the existing base (B22YD) bayonet base to a 55 watt low pressure sodum vapor lamp. Done so that I could use this lamp with a fluorescent ballast a pulse rated medium base to run this light.

I've always wondered, why don't they make LPS lamps with screw bases?

I think it's because the bayonet base makes it foolproof to correctly align the lamp in the fixture. LPS is often quite finicky about what position you run them in.

Oh and if you want one of these with a screw base. Go to eBay and type in "B-22 adapter" and you'll see a bunch of adapters. The adapters might need trimming though. Neutral

Well, I guess it does but I prefer leaving my lamps original.
