nope it was a style in the late 70s and early 80s I remember seeing those ALL over when I was a kid in the late 80! I loved those classical 70s-80s style, they had them in cylinder shape too!

I have lights like that on the side of my house. You can see them on my pictures that show the outside of my house. xD

Yep classic 80s design, complete with HPS for outdoors and incandescent for indoors.

Oh I have seen them with clear mercs! It was mostly mercs in here actually!

Incandescent for indoors most of the time...usually I believe PAR 38 lamps and some regular A-19 shape incandescent

The Denny's restaurant here was somewhat dated until a recent remodel. It had these, both in recessed and non-recessed versions all over inside, as well as some large greening merc lanterns in the parking lot.

I know of a subway station with the recessed versions of these, they look like they could have been MV and were probably original to when it was built (1987).

I know some cylinder ones that were installed on columns outside (along with building built) in 1994 and they were HPS!
