It was just in to bad shape to be worth keeping, plus it was going to be a huge hassle getting it off the ancient RMC conduit.

Use a angle grinder.
Also works great for "saving" streetlights.

I don't have one yet, but I'd still have to get whatever of the conduit was left in the base. I see Microelectric still makes
this type
of meter base too!
