Nice, Clamshells used to common until the early 90's here from what I could tell from the historical pics. They also seem to have left the remote ballast cans on some poles too. There's only one clamshell that I know of that's still lighting a street but that's going to be removed soon in order to widen the road.

its always good to see an old fixture in service...especially clamshells...they look so simple and visually Pleasing!

I also like the MH gumball fixtures that the City of Toronto uses to light some of the streets here. They also look quite simple in my opinion.

Joe do you know weather those Gumballs use Standard Quartz Metal Halide lamps or the Ceramic Arctube ones (CMH)?...also are the gumballs Old?

Hey, I think they use just Standard Quartz Metal Halide lamps but the majority of the fixtures are pulse start so converting them over just requires a lamp change.

As to how old they are I'm not exactly sure because I've heard they were either retrofitted from incandescent to MH or had the head replaced with a MH one. I've uploaded a couple pics of them in my gallery here.
