Is your area getting "smart" meters? These could be related to that.
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:29 AM]
National Grid uses those"smart meters" here and we onlt have these things in downtown Providence.
gailgrove   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:36 AM]
We got them about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago, they only started the "on-peak and off-peak" (...) this spring though. Rolling Eyes

Same here, Rolling Eyes the smart meter also replaced the original 80s Westinghouse meter. Mad

The spinny wheel type meter is still on my house from 2003. they automatically know the utility bill without going to the house somehow.
gailgrove   [Oct 08, 2011 at 02:54 AM]
The "spinny wheel type meter". Laughing Laughing

I forgot what those were called. Razz Laughing I like them better than the digital ones. The faster it spins the more juice you're using.

I like spinning discs Razz the more 1kW lights you hook up to it the faster it spins. Laughing
gailgrove   [Oct 08, 2011 at 03:00 AM]
I like them too! But there all gone here, you can buy them on Ebay.
streetlight98   [Oct 08, 2011 at 03:21 AM]
Hmm. Meters are cheaper than i thought. I was thinking like $80
Form109   [Oct 08, 2011 at 10:01 PM]
Smart meter's eh?....sounds expensive.
Antstar85   [Oct 08, 2011 at 11:43 PM]
Most utility companies now use "automated read meters" which they can now read you meter by driving by the house. My father is a Meter service mechanic for NU and he showed me the device, It's pretty cool.
gailgrove   [Oct 08, 2011 at 11:45 PM]
Here they are all wireless to my knowledge, nobody even has to drive around.
streetlight98   [Oct 09, 2011 at 01:56 AM]
We use "automated read meters" i just didn't know what to call them. Embarrassed Laughing
