The highmast setups in Ontario closely resemble this setup except that the highmasts are paired up with 8 foot tapered es. They used to be paired up with 6 foot trusses but they're no longer used.

id Be Nice to Replace those HPS Highmasts and Cobraheads with Mercury Vapor Ovalites! that'd be a Spectucular Sight! Very Happy

Is this between Shreveport and Dallas? If so I have been at this intersection multiple times.

ALSO, if so...

I remember when those higmasts didn't even have LIGHTS on them. THey were still being put up. It was long ago, We were driving to Shreveport, there were lots of highmasts there which were still being put up, they were lightless and no fixtures on them.

This dayburning mode is similar to what we have in Israel. Perhaps these lights gets their electricity from a seperate street light wire and they are turned on for maintenance (Lamp replacing) or if photocell are used to turn on/off the line, it is damged.

Ian...Yes this is Between Shreveport and Dallas..in the Description i Posted that this Was Taken in the "Longview,Texas City Limits" Which is Between Shreveport and Dallas.

Dor123 That Could Be....Either of those Two...None of the Cobraheads have Photocells...and Highmasts definetly dont have them (or at least i wouldn't Think) im Assuming all Fixtures are Controlled by a Box with a Single Photocell and one or a Couple of Contactors(Relays)

By the way in Haifa and Nesher, they don't uses photocells, nor timers to turn on/off street lighting. but uses remote controlled (Wired or wireless) computerized controller of Menora group called ITC - T for streetlighting. Its controlling is done by using a PC computer which run a software called Wizcon. In several football (soccer) and basketball suburban fields their floodlights also connected to this controller. In Nesher they using this controller with a manual change of the on/off times of the street lighting groups, but still almost all the groups lit at the same time with a gap of several seconds between them. In haifa the on/off times of the street lighting groups updated by the astronomical clock.
For more information of the ITC - T controler enter to the Menora group english site: www.menorahgroup.com/eng.

Our MD state lighting in most cases have one photocell in one line....for every maybe 20 lights or so...and maybe like 10 high-masts........when they need maintenance....they cover the PC...

Around my area we have lots of MH Highmasts as well as some HPS ones....but the intersection near me...just less than 5 min away...has MH highmasts...but...I noticed some cobrahead streetlight setup seems to be starting to be in process? I am seeing holes along the ramp with some wires.....I wonder are they replacing the highmast, or are they just adding the streetlights on ramps?

Also Ian...Interstates Dont have Intersections for the Most Part..since they are Freeways the Grade Seperation means this is an Exchange not an Intersection.

You meant "interchange".

For high way lighting control here we have a huge metal box (about the size of a small camping trailer) with a large relay inside, they often supply 60+ high masts Shocked or 100s of cobra heads!
