M-400...
Looks almost like it wants to fall off!

Pole is very thin, I could of just juggled this and it would come RIGHT off! But I didn't.

Very Funny Ian. Smile

Are you sure this is a M-400 not a M-250?
Form109   [Jun 16, 2011 at 02:00 AM]
@Jace the Earliest M-250's that have M-400 Housings,250 Watt Lamps and Polycarbonate Refractors?
GullWhiz   [Jun 16, 2011 at 02:45 AM]
Yep but overtime refractors gets replaced and can get replaced with glass....and only those without the thumb latch like the above could be a M-250..
Silverliner14B   [Jun 16, 2011 at 02:47 AM]
Ian said its a 400w so its a M400.
Form109   [Jun 16, 2011 at 02:51 AM]
im sure it's a M400 but how could you tell the diffrence through the glass?
Silverliner14B   [Jun 16, 2011 at 11:24 PM]
If it has the smaller 175w or 250w lamp inside, chances it may be a M250, especially if it is the oldest model in silver without the thumb latch.

Unfoutunatly, we won't know unless the light is opened up. It's not common for utilities to do this, but it may have a cram lamp.
GullWhiz   [Jun 16, 2011 at 11:44 PM]
There's no such a thng as a MV cram lamp from my knowlege....plus...its actually kinda easier than you think....you have to look carefully....the M-250 has LOOOONG socket inside....
streetlight98   [Jun 16, 2011 at 11:45 PM]
Yes there is. I used to own one. It's only made by Plusrite.
GullWhiz   [Jun 17, 2011 at 12:25 AM]
Most likely a utlity wouldn't use a Plusrite anyway...its one of the worst quality lamps out there.... plus if it was 175 or 250 watt...it would be centered in the reflector because of longer socket....and yes you'll be able to see through glass....you need an experienced eye...like me! If it was a cram lamp MV....it would totally be off centered on the reflector

I kinda recall seeing a 175w mercury cram lamp before but I can't seem to find any info on it.
Form109   [Jun 17, 2011 at 02:07 AM]
Alain has a 175 Watt MV Cram Lamp, its an ED-17 Envelope with a Medium Base i believe.
GullWhiz   [Jun 17, 2011 at 12:29 PM]
I have 150 watt HPS cram lamp and 175 watt MH cram lamp and some other wattages of MH cram lamps...but I haven't seen any MV ones.

Actually Jace, I wouldn't be able to see through the glass because my vision is blury without my glasses. If you want to know what my vision looks like, look at a few of my pictures in the gallery. Laughing I actually see the lights on the pole in person just as blury as when on the website. Razz
GullWhiz   [Jun 17, 2011 at 08:21 PM]
Nice sense of humor....

But I must admit.....it's harder to see on GE refractors than the OV-25 refractors because the OV-25 refractors has much clearer spots on the sides....

Your camera probably needs glasses Razz
streetlight98   [Jun 17, 2011 at 08:50 PM]
You know, I actually tried to take a picture using my glasses over the camera lens, but it focused in on the glasses. Mad It was a cool pic though. My OV10 lens is virtually see-through. Even before I opened it, I knew there was a coated BT lamp inside. Smile
GullWhiz   [Jun 17, 2011 at 08:52 PM]
You probably just need to learn how to do a focusing on cameras....you need to do a half press on the camera (press lightly on the shutter) it would do a focusing measurements.....then when the picture looks good on the screen....SNAP IT!

I'll try that. thanks.
