Cooper OVS insides.
Here is the inside of it before I switched ballasts. It was mounted in there a bit crooked... and the original setup was fine though.

I wish that this wasn't 480 volts original but hey, what can you do. At least this is a brand new OVS that has never before been used and made in the 80's

Ballast is Advance, I never knew Cooper used Advance for their fixtures back then.

they might have used advance ballasts for the uncommon voltages and ballast types. AEL uses a different brand for their Mag-Reg ballasts. I forget the brand but i saw it in someone's gallery on here...

Yeah, AEL used Pacific Ballast ballasts in the mag-reg fixture. I have a Cooper flood that used a 175w Advance ballast instead of a Cooper ballast. I guess Cooper dosen't make tri-tap ballasts so they had to use a Advance instead.

Yeah the lighting manufacturers probably make the most common ballast types. I think GE uses Universal ballasts for their uncommon voltages with their lights. Their "replacer Ballasts" are universal ballasts now. Their replacement ballasts used to be OEM ballasts. Sad

Yeah, gone are the days when GE made most of their own ballasts and sockets. I think only the big HID fixture companies still make some of their own ballasts anyway.

Interestingly, I think Powerlite always used ballasts from another company in their lights, I think most of them used Sola Canada or Ballastronix ballasts.

Hmm powerlite didn't even rebrand them? AEL ballasts are rebranded Advance ballasts but with more OEM features added in such as slip-on spades and metal cased caps and exposed coils but other than that they're basically the same.

Yeah, with original stickers and all. I guess only GE and Cooper still use their own ballasts then.
