Yes, this is a M-400. The M-400A Powr/doors have vents, but the split doors do not. This is what I have heard from NiMo and Jace.

Some M-400 As have no vents. In fact I think this one has an M-400 a2 power door. As what the door looks like.

Yes you are mostly right Streetlight98, but this one is actually a powerdoor! The current newest GE M-400A2s have no vents!

Also look carefully....see the door obviously looks newer than the rest of the fixture too! The best way to know if its a split door or a GE M-400A1 is the kind of lock used on the door....I kept telling someone to take a pic of all the GE's side by side...but he hasn't done it yet Crying or Very sad Sad

Actually, this does appear to have a M-400A2 door because of the NEMA label. The split doors and M-400As had shiney golden NEMA tags while the A2's had/have plain yellow tags. And yes, I'm aware that the M-400A2 lights don't have vents.

The early GE M-400A2 had vents though!

I didn't know that though. Interesting..........

There are a few M-400 a2's On Quincy right at the edge of the Denver area and they all have vent holes. There is a random OVX mixed in.. but yeah.

This is a nice example of a Powr/Door being used properly.
joe_347V   [Oct 03, 2011 at 01:34 AM]
I don't think the utilities here use Powr/Doors properly since I haven't seen any B2255s with different looking doors. Razz
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2011 at 01:35 AM]
Well they can't get any replacement B2255 doors here, unless the M400A2 door might fit. Idea
joe_347V   [Oct 03, 2011 at 01:38 AM]
Well they could pull them off scrapped ones. Razz but if someone here has both lumes post a pic of a B2255 with a M400A2 door and a M400A2 with a B2255 door. Shocked
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:00 AM]
Darren does, hopefully if they are scrapping the light it's because the ballast is dead.
streetlight98   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:18 AM]
Rhet don't replace the powerdoors in the mv M-250A2s here. Mad
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:21 AM]
That's stupid, they could easily put in HPS Powr/Doors in them. Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:36 AM]
it is, but it reduces inventory, so that's why they do it. The replacment powerdoors actually don't cost that much less than a new fixture. Neutral I was told about $90. That's compared to the average $150 for a GE cobrahead.
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:40 AM]
But do they replace any Powr/Doors? If not then I can see why they don't bother but if they already stock the HPS ones it would be plain stupid not to replace them.
streetlight98   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:43 AM]
They stock HPS R2s. National Grid doesn't use power doors. Narrgansett Electric, the company they bought out, used the MV power doors. Sice NG doesn't stock the A2 doors, they have to replace the unit.
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2011 at 02:48 AM]
Makes sense, here they won't replace any of the few power doors we have here, they will just replace the fixture.
LilCinnamon   [Oct 03, 2011 at 05:04 AM]
I saw an M-400 A1 FCO close to Downtown denver, the fixture was dirty and paint was wearing off, except the power door, because the power door was brand new from an M-400 A2. the fixture looked off with the power door all nice and shiny and the rest was worn out. xD
