Form 400 PowerPack
Here's a Form 400 PowerPack that lights an old driveway next to a rail spur. I believe there's around three or four of them left. Mine?
joe_347V   [May 05, 2012 at 10:49 PM]
Well leave one for me. Laughing
streetlight98   [May 05, 2012 at 10:57 PM]
Me too, though i'd like one with an internal PC receptacle. Very Happy Maybe someday i'll get one...
joe_347V   [May 06, 2012 at 12:29 AM]
So which design do you guys like more, the all cast Canadian one or the cast ballast case-stamped reflector US one?
streetlight98   [May 06, 2012 at 03:30 AM]
I personally like the cast balalst housing with the stamped reflector.
gailgrove   [May 06, 2012 at 01:01 PM]
And here's a surprise, I like the totally cast one. Razz
streetlight98   [May 06, 2012 at 02:35 PM]
Could an all-cast clamshell pass as the first cobrahead? I mean this has a one piece upper housing (well, minus the electrical cover on top), and an internal reflector.
joe_347V   [May 06, 2012 at 06:19 PM]
Well, no surprise here, I like the fully cast one too. Laughing

And yeah I wonder if these were ever consider cobraheads at one point...they seem to have all the features of them except for the cobra like shape.
vaporeyes   [May 06, 2012 at 09:02 PM]
I've never seen one of these. So the all-cast design was only found in Canada?
streetlight98   [May 06, 2012 at 09:46 PM]
Cast seems logical up noth becuase of hailstoms. I'd guess a bad enough hail storm would damage stamped aluminum.
gailgrove   [May 06, 2012 at 09:47 PM]
I've never experienced a hail storm... Just saying. Laughing
streetlight98   [May 06, 2012 at 10:02 PM]
We've gotten hailstorms here but the hail was no bigger than a BB.
joe_347V   [May 06, 2012 at 10:43 PM]
I've gotten hailstorms once or twice but they were also no bigger than a BB.

I find it so neat how similar...yet how different the Canadian Form 400's are compared to the American ones. Why the need for an all cast housing?
joe_347V   [Apr 19, 2014 at 01:21 AM]
I wonder if it's to make the fixture hold up better under inclement weather.
streetlight98   [Apr 19, 2014 at 05:07 PM]
Yeah I don't know. The stamped ones have a separate internal reflector anyways so the cast ones likely use the same internal reflector.
joe_347V   [Apr 19, 2014 at 10:39 PM]
Ahh, I thought the stamped ones would have used the housing as the reflector like in some gumballs.
streetlight98   [Apr 20, 2014 at 12:53 AM]
Yeah I thought so too but the Form 400 and I think the OV20 used internal reflectors. My OV-10 uses one reflector. The inner reflector is also the outer one. The inside is mirrored (well it doesn't reflect an image but you get when i mean lol) and the outside is anodized.
