New sockets for the shoplight:
I bought some Y-shape sockets because they didn't have any regular ones that origionally came with it as pictured to the left. That is the only origional socket that didn't break while I was peddling it home, balancing it on my handlebars.

Hmm, I thought the doughnut hole type was more easy to find, at least here they are.

I thought so too...I haven't seen these GE lampholders before...they're nice!

Yep. They're actually made by Leviton. Bought these at HD. Which style do you guys like better?

I like the Y better give it a bit vintage look
streetlight98   [Apr 19, 2012 at 02:39 PM]
I thought so too. Smile Any vintage fluorescents I know of have the doughnut style sockets.

Hmm it looks like yours in a newer version Mine are like the ones that vintage preheaters came with complete with screw mounting, screw terminals, and optional starter block.

Oddly enough all the preheaters in my family have the starter sockets on the side of the fixture housing instead of under the lamps. Seems liek a more sensible option IMO.

Most of my preheat lights are like that too, only this and a American Fluorescent striplight have the starters location elsewhere.
