Rare 175w PSMH M250R2 on eBay
This is currently on eBay for $45. I really want it but shipping to me is also $45, adding up to $90 which is a bit too expensive right now (I don't have a renewable source of cash). It's located in Watertown, CT maybe it would be cheaper for some New England members. I'm hoping it will come down in price eventually since I have always wanted an OEM metal halide cobrahead.
Here's the listing.

Interesting, although I wouldn't think of getting a cobrahead shipped to Canada and besides most of my "mercury" cobras actually have PSMH or MH ballasts. Laughing

As much as I would like to get this, I have no way of making cash right now and $90 is too expensive. I'm just hoping it gets relisted at a lower price once it expires.

I would love to have one of these too, but yep $90 is just too much Confused

It's been relisted, but at the same price. Sad I hope it goes down after a while.

I guess the seller wants to keep everything the same, as from the same listing that was on ebay. Surprised

There's been a ratty M-250R1 converted to 70W HPS with a duct tape NEMA tag, broken AEL lens, and short mounting arm on eBay for $89 for like three years. If the guy dropped it down to like $20 I'd buy it lol. I'd convert it to 100W PSMH just to have a low-watt PSMH cobrahead lol
ZarlogH46   [Apr 14, 2018 at 02:52 AM]
I've seen that one too. Rolling Eyes It would be nice to have an M250R1, but not enough to drop $190 for one plus $60 shipping.

This is cool and I don't think I've ever seen one in the wild before in this configuration. Generally it's cheaper for us collectors to re-ballast a light the way we want it (I usually use metal halide ballasts for mercury lamps as they're easier to find & often cheaper, and reduce the wattage significantly since they are display fixtures and not meant for lighting a large area). And indeed, some eBay sellers are way out of line with their pricing and refuse to budge...I guess they don't really care to get rid of their product as they are looking for some sucker to economically rape.

Some area near LA, California uses these in 150w. Metal halide M250R2's are really rare, I have only seen them in pulse start. I have never seen one in probe start, even on Dave's streetlight gallery. M250A2s seem to be a bit more common in metal halide. I already have an M250R2 that I converted to 250w PSMH anyway, I would just like to have this for my collection since OEM metal halide cobraheads are hard to find.

I haven't seen MH GEs around here but I've seen some MH AEL 125s and PSMH OVFs.

Some places in southern NH have 70W PSMH M-250R2s, most being FCO but some being drop lens.
ZarlogH46   [Apr 15, 2018 at 05:53 PM]
70w? Interesting. On my old spec sheet from 2015 it says it was available in 100w minimum.
streetlight98   [Apr 15, 2018 at 11:19 PM]
Yep they're 70W. If you order enough of something a lot of manufacturers will let you choose a non-standard option.
joe_347V   [Apr 16, 2018 at 04:42 AM]
Yeah, I mean Chicago got GE to make a new variant of cobra for years so I'd imagine GE would do custom stuff if you ordered a lot.
ZarlogH46   [Jul 16, 2018 at 02:48 AM]
Well, the seller relisted it and so I took the plunge and placed a bid. I really hope I get it, considering it would be a real OEM metal halide cobrahead. Kind of wish it had a drop refractor instead of FCO though. (my other M250R2 is already FCO). I also had to contact the seller before I put the bid on because the description was for a 100w HPS M250R2 and I wanted to make sure I was getting the one in the picture.
streetlight98   [Jul 16, 2018 at 08:51 PM]
I hope you get it! Very Happy
ZarlogH46   [Jul 16, 2018 at 11:01 PM]
Yep, won the auction today. Very Happy

Congrats winning the auction! Very Happy
ZarlogH46   [Jul 22, 2018 at 04:06 PM]
Update: It arrived yesterday. I'll get pictures up soon. Oddly enough, it has an ADVANCE ballast! Unusual since I thought GE only used their own ballasts.
streetlight98   [Jul 23, 2018 at 01:20 AM]
They never used OEM ballasts for PSMH as far as I know. Just MV, HPS, and standard MH.
