I have noticed that green LEDs are quite a bit dimmer then other LEDs.

Heh! These are about $20 bucks here. They're Cooper ones. Home Depot carries Lithonia. 20 dollars is still a lot of money.

The local Lowe's sells them for $40 here too, too expensive for me, I got mine from Restore for $5 and it's a metal one too.

The only thing I don't like about the metal ones is that you can't put the arrow knock-outs back in if you move the exit sign.

Soldering with a high power soldering gun might be another idea...

I'm not going to go out of my way to spend money to buy a welder or soldering gun. I'd just stick with plastic scince LED doesn't give off heat.

Gas or electric welding? Gas is a good thing to learn, and i use it a lot more than electric arc welding. Though if you want fun you need to have a quick session with a plasma cutter, or an ordinary welder and gouging rods for quick and dirty cutting.

Lithonia EXIT sign

Found at a thrift store for $6. I can't believe these are sold at Lowe's for $40, as they are so cheaply constructed. This one unfortunately had the battery backup removed and the LED board was wired to a cord & plug. Interestingly, the LEDs are blue...perhaps as they are brighter than green ones.
