Kool! Can you light this up?
GullWhiz   [Apr 03, 2011 at 12:50 AM]
Sorry he replaced it with a GE M-250R1 today in front of me.....
gmercury2000   [Apr 03, 2011 at 06:01 AM]

How come this doesn't have a NEMA tag?
LilCinnamon   [Aug 17, 2011 at 08:24 AM]
How do these clear drop refractors alter the lighting distribution from an FCO light? Cause the plastic can't do much to the lighting distribution but add shadows...
joe_347V   [Aug 17, 2011 at 03:48 PM]
That's a good question, I would imagine it to be like a FCO light.
streetlight98   [Aug 17, 2011 at 04:43 PM]
Yeah, not sure. It'd look good if the lens was frosted. More difuse light and it'd look better.
gmercury2000   [Sep 10, 2011 at 04:30 AM]
Actually this one does have a NEMA tag just cause of the angle you cant see it Laughing
GullWhiz   [Sep 10, 2011 at 02:14 PM]
It's very hard to see....but I was actually there when this pic was taken...and the NEMA tag was indeed there anyway....just look very very carefully...it's the reflection of the light that made it appear grey!

I can vaguely see it.... This is one cool fixture. I've always liked the mercury vapor M-250r2s becasue there are only 2 i am aware of. One is on Pine Street in Rehoboth MA. It's 100w MV and has been dayburning for as long as i can remember. It still puts out a good amount of light for dayburning more then 10 years. The other one is in Jamestown, RI.

Where'd you get that clear plastic lens?
streetlight98   [Oct 29, 2011 at 10:16 PM]
It came with his fixture. This is a standard GE option listed as "Clear actrylic globe" under "M-250R2 with cut-off optics"
tpirman1982   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:15 AM]
Never saw a clear version of it before.
streetlight98   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:17 AM]
Me neither.
GullWhiz   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:26 AM]
I have....except they were in HPS....I saw them in Gaithersburg, MD
LilCinnamon   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:39 AM]
In Denver I have seen some clear-globed M-400 R3's in use. I know of some behind a McDonalds on Hampton Avenue close after the freeway ends.

I should get a picture of those.
Antstar85   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:43 AM]
I've seen them in HPS in kittery, Maine.
streetlight98   [Oct 30, 2011 at 12:51 AM]
Do this give any more glare than a sag lens?
gmercury2000   [Aug 31, 2016 at 11:41 AM]
No it doesn't give anymore glare.
dor123   [Mar 05, 2024 at 08:56 AM]
The plastic bowl looks to me very similar to some European lanterns like Thorn Pilote 2 and 3 and Schreder Z1-Z3
