Sylvania M250/C/BU-H cleartop
Here's an NOS cleartop MH from December 1979. Odd that this MH lamp was still a clearender while /DX mercs made by Sylvania in '79 were clear banders.

Well? What do you think guys?

Nice! I never knew they made cleartop MH lamps at one point, I thought it was a merc before I read the description.

WHOA a clear top MH! Is there any cleartop coated HPS?!
Silverliner14B   [Aug 23, 2011 at 05:13 AM]
Yep, clearend MHs indeed existed, Sylvania made them as late as 1980. I think Sylvania has always made the diffuse HPS lamps with the clearband finish, Joe Maurath said he has one from 1973.

Well.....I know Sylvania today's MH lamps are sorta clear top....its more of a lot lighter coated than the rest of the lamp...some to look really clear ended! It's cool!

Oh yeah, that is cool! Like the westys of the early 80s and some Iwasaki mercs too, particularly the BT37.

Does Sylvania still make the Metalarcs in a BT shape? I am thinking about ordering one online but can't find any info.

No all their lamps are ED shape now. It was a recent change in the last year or two.

Awww. Sad I guess this means the only new BT28 metal halides still available are those Plusrite protected lamps.

Yuuuup. Sad Unless the ED MH lamps were only a short-lived thing. All I see online now though are the ED Sylvanias. I liked the Sylvania MHs just for the fact that they were BT shape lol. Plus they're good quality but the shape was cool too!
