Joslyn clamshell - showing inside
The lamp is a 1962 vintage GE Bonusline H100C38-4, high hours but working. It didn't come with a lamp, I put this in myself. I notice the reflector follows the NEMA pattern that is shared in most small cobraheads, while the refractor itself is a totally unique one.

Did these come with a ceramic socket shell shroud and it's gone or were these always bare socket shells? The lamp is the coolest part!

Clamshells typically have the bare shelled sockets.

Interesting, never knew that! (Granted, I'm kinda ignorant about streetlights; I'm most knowedgeable about fluorescents)

Nice! Yeah I've noticed that older clams have exposed socket shells. Sure don't wanna touch it with phase-to-phase set-ups that's for sure!

Yeah, my gumball originally had a exposed socket shell too. I had to replace it since parts of it got melted from a lightning strike. Shocked

My Peaheads have modern mogul sockets though.

Did a lamp and ballast possibly survive that incident?
joe_347V   [Jul 25, 2014 at 03:06 AM]
It was incandescent so no ballast. The Sylvania 500w lamp it came with still worked though.

That's pretty cool it still worked! That's a miracle!

Well, I'm not sure if the lamp was replaced though.

Going back to the clamshell, I see that you have a GE BT-25 in there, those are pretty rare. Shocked

Yeah especially since GE was the first to move to the ED shape!
