Yeah. I had many bulbs failing that way. Most of the time the smoke inside is a little yellowish.

It failed even faster than my Globe 29w halogen and I thought that one was junk, this one's even worst. Oh well, time to search for a better quality silver bowl lamp.

Spent 60w Silver Bowl

Here's a spent silver bowl that burnt out around 3 months of use, it seemed to have leaked going by the haze formed on the bulb. I hooked it up to a NST after it burnt out but the filament only arced for a few seconds before arcing at the stem.
